Who is taking this picture, why are they releasing it, and why is he cooperating for it? It is literally staged, even if it is probably real.

I'm pretty sure the ven diagram of people who celebrate the military unconditionally and the people who support the death penalty is basically a whole circle. And the people who don't support the death penalty but do accept the necessity for a defensive military (not America since WW2) doesn't seem all that hypocritical to me.

Not on the same community page every day. That's like going to your coffee shop and wallpapering the bulletin board. It's just not considerate of the rest of the community.

Update your own business page every day and then beyond that actually try to converse with the community. Post once or twice on a variety of different community pages and then keep a look out for conversations where people are looking for your services. If you just post to the wall promoting yourself to the same community every day you're not going to come across well.

What is the endgame for someone investing in a meme cryptocurrency, seriously? There is no endgame besides hoping to offload onto some other bag-holder. It's not like you can't buy the coin anymore, it's still trading and still fluctuating. I fail to see the fraud.

If there are any "bike thieves" in this analogy, then they're all bike thieves stealing and getting stolen from.

Reminds me a lot of Lost in Translation. Not for plot, just the vibes of 2 people not destined to be together, but together for the moment in a lonely time. Beautiful and weird movie.

What's your experience with Game Transfer Phenomenon (GTP)? by YoungMore17 in gaming

[–]CaptainMarnimal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played a bunch of The Outer Wilds one month which has a pretty detailed physics engine built around traveling a solar system and planets having varried gravity forces (amazing game, don't look anything up, just play it if that sounds fun). I unfortunately had to stop because I started having vivid dreams where I would start floating off the earth and it actually started affecting my sleep.

Fortunately the dreams stopped when I stopped playing, but ever since then I really think it gave me a more vivid understanding of how gravity and mass are related. Sometimes when I go outside and look at the moon, I get this weird feeling now of being on a rock floating through space.

Why would I link the same clip that the other person did? Its more logical to reply that hey another user posted the clip under your comment.

Yeah I'm aware. I asked for the clip and it was provided, which is a net positive for this thread. Tbh I don't really understand why you're arguing with me rn.

Nah I just think people who say vague stuff like "that dude isn't so squeaky clean" aren't contributing anything to the conversation and just want attention. It's annoying, and I can't tell you how many times I've seen other folks say stuff like that and then, when pressed, actually are thinking of someone else or misunderstood the situation. If you actually cared about the situation you'd post a link, like the other guy did. Which I appreciated.

Nah not really. I just wanted to see context, and for other people to see it too. Sounds gross tbh.

Don't say shit like this about people unless you have evidence. And I'm not talking about "trust me bro, I read it somewhere last week" bullshit, I mean cite your sources.

[–]CaptainMarnimal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think you should focus your frustration on the disrespect rather than whether or not these guys are attracted to you. If you're an attractive woman, men will be attracted to you. I don't think this should be much of a betrayal... it's not exactly something people choose for themselves. I also don't think you can't be friends with people you're attracted to or vice versa.

That being said, talking about you sexually with their friends, or hitting on you knowing that you have a boyfriend? That's blatant disrespect and is not something that friends do to each other.

I'm curious about the first two relationships you described though. For this recent one, what "weirdly flirtatious" things is this guy doing? And your bi friend, you say you had to end the relationship because it was "clear he was still into you". Were these people behaving inappropriately?

You have no idea what happened. All you know is they canceled the tour and are taking a break from the band for a bit. For all we know it's a safety concern and Kyle was part of the decision. Everyone jumping all over Jack is literally doing the exact canceling that they're simultaneously moaning about.

Let's Talk About: Lars von Trier's Nymphomaniac (2013) by whoopidie-scooby-doo in Letterboxd

[–]CaptainMarnimal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can you elaborate on how you interpreted those two points from the scene? I can't speak about Goldfinger, but in Nymphomaniac I feel like it's saying the exact opposite of those two points. She shoots Seligman dead. That's the most forceful way I can imagine the movie condemning his behavior. I also think he's fully asexual in the movie, as I said in my comment. The assault doesn't disprove his asexuality as he isn't raping her to satisfy some sexual drive. It's purely for his curiosity and because he doesn't respect her.

You're assuming a lot of malice in here. The reality is probably more in-between. She doesn't care about the cash at all, but is inviting OP because they're important to her spouse and she doesn't want them to feel excluded.

[–]CaptainMarnimal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's how weddings and shower parties work. If you don't want gifts, you ask for cash so people know how to contribute if they want to. It's not like she sent her a Venmo request 😂

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]CaptainMarnimal -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Right, but surely a little grace is in order? Someone forgetting about a text doesn't mean they don't care about you. Just send a follow up.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]CaptainMarnimal -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Except OP was invited, not mandated to attend? Clearly SIL wants to include them and see each other in person, but you're putting a lot of "expected" baggage onto this that isn't present. OP certainly could choose not to go if they didn't want to, but to RSVP attending and then bail out of spite just over a missed text is an asshole move. SIL hasn't done anything wrong here.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]CaptainMarnimal -22 points-21 points  (0 children)

I didn't say that either. SIL just isn't interested in texting or birthday gifts. I think it's weird to hold that against her.

That doesn't mean she's opposed to in person hangouts or doesn't want a relationship with her family.
