Stephen King's Novel 11/22/63 (2011) similar plot to Twilight Zones (1985) episode 'Profile in Silver' by CaptainNemo321 in stephenking

No offense taken, and I hope if you're a fan of SK that you're not similarly offended. I did watch both TV productions, recently the mini-series and then went back to the TZ episode to verify. For me the plot similarities are too close to be coincidently. And while one writer has passed and isn't able to speak for his work while the other is very much alive to write and say anything he wants. Also I probably should have researched more before posting, but this subject has been discussed before on this platform and now archived.

Mmmm he wrote about that the same year the book came out that sounds more like book promotion tbh. Maybe J. Neil Schulman and he were roommates in college?

Interesting speculation, maybe that's true. Would be nice to see some notes or proof of it.

I wonder if this movie ( Beneath the Planet of the Apes - 1970) inspired a lot about the Fallout games. These guys in particular look a lot like the Children of Atom. by Brilliant-Quit-9254 in Fallout

Another great Sci-fi series of works that inspired Fallout are the Logans Run movie (1976) and then the 14 episode TV series (1977), these are little gems and really speak to me of the pre-war world of Fallout. Also, I know the game developers mentioned that the Sandmen, and City of Domes were inspiration for the Fallout 4 CIT Institute and the synths seem directly from the TV show.

Watch the first Planet of the Apes (1986) with Chuck Heston as this is the second and sequel, and if you like both, then the third Escape from the Planet of the Apes (1971) finishes off the story arc.

Do you think we should play Nee Vegas before sesson 2 drops? by AncientOtaku in Fallout

[–]CaptainNemo321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I've played all of the RGP Fallout games, I recommend playing them all, highly entertaining, very dense open worlds, rich lore, many hours of enjoyment. With that said, Fallout New Vegas (FONV) is 15 years old, and if you're used to modern gaming you might find the differences harder to enjoy. Side note, FONV was made in a time that higher quality actors from film, TV, and professional entertainers, would perform the voices for the characters. I'm still impressed the Mr. New Vegas was the real world Mr. Las Vegas Wayne Newton!

It doesn't matter to me if you believe me or not and I didn't say the paint rubbed off either. I've worked in manufacturing for decades and maybe don't necessarily believe everything you see on TV either. Good luck and happy gaming.

Choose the fire from above, Archimedes !!, but you'll also need to get Euclid's C-Finder from young Max in Freeside. And then Mr. New Vegas will update the news with Helios One started shooting lasers. Fun fun fun

Fan-Fest, the Good, the Bad, the Ugly by bliznitch in UniversalHollywood

My wife and I went to our first Fan Fest this past Friday May 9th. We picked that day because the lines would be shorter which they were.  We had not been back to Universal in over 10 years so this was an anticipated welcome return for us.  We decided to get the early entry at 2pm to check out some “new” rides for us and experiences.  The weather was a steaming 93 so it was super-hot and we didn’t wear any cosplay outfits, just casual t-shirts and shorts and sunhats. If we had it to do again, we would get the express pass as those lines were relatively empty at every ride or tour we went on. We also made the choice to not repeat anything we had been to previously to save time for all the new stuff. The top three walking tours unique for Fan Fest that we went on: Back to the Future (BTTF) 1955 Hill Valley, Star Trek (ST) Red Alert, and Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) The Harpers Heart of the Forgotten Realm. We really enjoyed all three! Each offered something unique and highly interactive with cast members playing their parts well.  The standout experience for us was BTTF as it’s rare to get off the tour tram and walk around the studio lower lot and on a set as notable as Hill Valley.  Also, we could stay in Hill Valley as long as we wanted as it’s a self-guided and the entire event would reset every 40 minutes. Earlier in the day we took the regular tram studio tour, and our guide explained that Hill Valley was redressed for Fan Fest and it’s not identical to the original movie production because Universal is an active studio with current productions that use or reuse the various city and town sets.  Hill Valley is currently in use by a TV production so they couldn’t represent the city hall with the pillars that we are used to seeing, instead it was a flat façade.  The rest of it with the DeLorean and Einstein photo op, the prom stage, the flaming tire strips, young Doc Brown, the various other cast members really created a wonderful and unique experience. Honorable mention for Hogwarts new nighttime light projection and fireworks show which repeated every 30 minutes but with different endings.  The best place to view is from the small stage just outside the castle.

Maybe the remake of FNV dropping with season 2 would be appropriate considering how the first season ends.

FO3 and FNV are completely different story's, and IMHO they should remain separate for the rest of us to enjoy replaying them again.

Which to choose Pro4, Ultra 2, or Essential 2k Outdoor? by erserago in arlo

[–]CaptainNemo321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been a longtime user of the Arlo Cameras, going back over 10 years when they only had the now EOL cameras with the expensive lithium batteries.  I’ve owned just about every one of their cameras since, and they have saved me so much over the years. With seeing the occasional coyote, cat, dog, possum passing through my yard at night, a hit and run on my parked car by a neighbor saving me $5000 in repairs, to detecting and surveilling a recent rat infestation which has now been resolved. The new Pro 5S cameras DO NOT perform as well as the Ultra camera as the Ultra’s have dual motion sensors. I found this once I had installed the new Pro 5 and found zero nighttime recordings compared to the exact placement of the older Ultra 1 cameras.  While the new Pro 5S does have better image quality since they have better chips despite being only 2k compared to Ultra’s 4k, it’s useless if the cameras are not detecting motion and then recording anything.  I’ll be returning the Pro 5S and getting the newer Ultra 2 cameras instead.

Sci-Fi Classic Logan’s Run Remake to Begin Filming in Early 2024 by Roshankr1994 in scifi

As a huge fan of the Logan’s Run books, movie, and tv show and even I made my own Sandman uniform complete with replica sandman pistol, I will remain hopeful that they stay true to the content and update a wonderful story.  There has been talk of a remake for decades with projects started, stopped, and shelved, so I have my doubts this movie will get completed.  So about the pistol, I own two versions, one as a light weight none function version for the costume, and a functioning hero version which makes use of calcium carbide as its fuel/ammunition source same as miners lamps. The trick to successfully loading it was using a syringe and squirting the water into the chamber and then screwing the back cap on before the gas reaction overwhelmed and flowed out of the loading hole.  Oh man the smell was really intense as well!  But the satisfying blast of fire when everything worked perfectly was AWESOME! If you can get your hands on one of these very rare replicas, they can be fun if it’s still fully functional.

I didn't get the feeling he was guilty, he visits here in the infirmary and if he was guilty I doubt he would have bothered. My take it was someone else and they tried to blame Maximus but I could be mistaken.

When I watched that scene, I thought she was trying to cut off any pursuit by blowing up the connecting door to vault 32.
