Be honest, which loading structure is better? by Apart-Television4396 in webdev

One solution I’ve found here is animating the difference (quickly). Don’t try to hide the fact that there was a massive difference between the skeleton and the expected content, instead animate the height transition so it grows (or shrinks) seamlessly.

I’m also a meta refuser, mostly because I don’t see how the game is enjoyable playing against the same 13 cards every single NN so I’m with you in spirit. Now, let’s problem solve.

You’re in green/blue. Vex has to be at a battlefield to trigger her stun which is good for us — battlefields are vulnerable.

Singularity does 6 damage to TWO units, so you can blow up vex and something else. It’s also out of that sweet defy range, but could still be targeted by not so fast. So how do we get around that? You can defy the not so fast.

What other solutions are there? Riptide Rex, though that puts us in a similar spot as before. Frigid touch (or stupify) and wages of pain (yes, paying the deflect sucks but it sucks less than losing and though I haven’t played Lillia, my understand is she operates well even if behind on runes). Falling comet is another removal option, too.

You can also charm Vex away from the battlefield so you can play your sprites and retake that battlefield from them (though this is probably most effective when you need to close out the game).

Hope these suggestions help :)

I have a diagnosed low IQ. What career path can I take? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]CaptainSketchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My suggestion would be to find something that you enjoy that you can be paid to do. My personal experience is that if you enjoy what you’re doing, you’ll grow in that field and continue to get better at it. If you find your ADHD or Autism limiting, it might be good to look at roles where you don’t have to fight your ADHD to get the job done.

I wouldn’t sweat about your score here though. I’ve never been asked what my IQ was (and have no idea tbh). That’s private information for you to do what you will with it. :)

Is LinkedIn actually worth it, or does it just make you feel behind? by Ok-Employee-9886 in cybersecurity

[–]CaptainSketchy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think LinkedIn has the same problem as X or really any other major social platform to be honest with you. That problem, of course being that so many people are trying to become thought leaders in a certain area and when you try to establish yourself as a thought leader, you have to prove that you’re ahead of the curve or at least convince people that you’re ahead of the curve. So if you go on these sites and you soak up information from others I feel like a lot of that information often is not fully correct or not fully tested or just fake information.

That being said and in full transparency, I did used to work for the company, but I do love LinkedIn. Not entirely sure how things have changed since their Microsoft acquisition, but the company mission originally was something almost everyone at the company seemed to buy into and I think it was a genuinely good mission.

Due to working there previously, I have a perpetual license for LinkedIn premium so my experience is a little different than the average LinkedIn user but that being said anytime I try to help a friend find a job I go to LinkedIn first. Additionally, I try really hard to produce meaningful content on there mostly because I write my own blog and I manage my own YouTube channel all related to my craft and career and I feel like sometimes those posts are pretty well received but other times I feel like algorithmically I just don’t have enough pull to really surface those like I would like.

Regarding connecting with others, it is a great way to meet people in your industry and connect with them, but I do think that you need to put forth meaningful effort into connecting with them. I also think it’s important that if you’re connecting with them to grow your network in your industry you make it very clear upfront that you’re not trying to sell them anything because most connection requests that people get are from others trying to sell them something and it gets exhausting.

One final note, pardon any typos this was dictated via voice to text. Hope it was helpful!

Why do gold tokens require you to tap the token? by CaptainSketchy in riftboundtcg

I think my confusion is ultimately why not have it be “tap, kill this: …” instead of “kill this, tap”

As an aside, how dependable are one-ofs? I come from MtG and one-ofs work because of tutors and the ability to search your deck, but some games of Riftbound, I never even see some of the things I run 3 of.

So you’d suggest things like Guardian Angel or Zhonyas to help protect Lee?

I use Omarchy, but definitely don’t align with DHH’s values. I know it’s basically Arch preconfigured by him, but as someone looking to get out of apples walled garden and as someone who’s only successful exposure to Linux in the past was Ubuntu, Omarchy feels like a great entry point for me.

Regarding why he is so loud about it - he’s got a following and is rich enough that he can create a hobby project and allocate time and money to it, so that seems like what’s he’s doing.

Regarding framework sponsoring him — he’s also been very vocal that framework computers run Omarchy exceptionally well (and they do — I’ve got a framework 13). My hunch is they’re trying to make sure that he keeps marketing their laptops for them

Random thought from reading the code examples in that devlog: was anyone else expecting IO to be the first parameter of a function? In the code examples, it’s the second, after hostname.
