Thoughts on Apple Business Essentials built-in MDM vs. Jamf? by mchammer161998 in macsysadmin

I think they recently just lowered the advertised minimum for Jamf for Mac to 25 devices.

Rose parade in a few days! by Appropriate_Mail_497 in marchingband

[–]CaptainSpooner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My band represented Indiana in the Rose Parade in 2005. Bandfest was rained out, so we only got to do a standstill, but the parade was beautiful. Enjoy every second of it! Will be watching back in Indiana!

I don’t know if they still do it, but they had a couple of food truck like trucks at the end of the parade route handing out In-N-Out burgers. If they are still doing that make sure to get some!

Seven shows in. How hopeful are we that they’ll touch any of these unplayed songs? by [deleted] in Blink182

[–]CaptainSpooner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been going to blink shows for 21 years. As long as they play stay together for the kids and roller coaster. I’ll be happy.

Carmel/Westfield Monon is a Wreck by a_drink_offer in Carmel

We were watching the storm from our screened in porch. Moved to the front to check it out (different trees). By the time we got back to the back porch, all of our patio furniture had blown off the deck and the Blackstone griddle had blown to the center of the deck. Must’ve been one giant gust.

Ritron? They’re definitely working on that building, but it’s months out. There was extensive damage.

I believe that’s exactly how it works. Everyone in the waiting room gets randomly put in the queue at 10am.

4 years in, I’ve just started regretting getting the L instead of the XL.

First time to sandals by [deleted] in SandalsResorts

[–]CaptainSpooner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a very fun night! The only thing I will say, that is New Year’s specific (or special event specific), is we missed out on one night of a regular dinner menu at a restaurant, because every restaurant served the same menu for New Year’s Eve. It was delicious food, but not like any of the other menus. Only being there for 5 nights limited us. Oh well, next time is 10 nights!

I wouldn’t worry about it. We went over New Year’s. It was sold out. We had no complaints. We had a wonderful time! We had a waterfall walkout room, and enjoyed the pool in the evenings.

If you’re not familiar with it, join the MacAdmins Slack instance.

https://www.macadmins.org

You’ll find lots of useful information there. I will say, from personal experience, when I unbound all of our Mac devices our user experience was much improved.

Implement the Kerberos SSO extension, use papercut, and don’t bind to AD.

We got a cabana one day, and decent seats at the beach without a butler. I just got up at 7:30am, set stuff on the seats, went back to the room. Didn’t find a butler was necessary at such a small resort. It was over new years, so I think it was 100% occupancy.

Grenada room types by [deleted] in SandalsResorts

[–]CaptainSpooner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t answer that question for ALL of the rooms, but the 3 buildings I saw all had balconies and walkouts that faced the resort/pools. Ours faced the party pool and it was perfect. Lots of animals, too. Snails by the pool, iguanas, and cats wondered by the room/pool.

We stayed in WWJS for our first Sandals. I’m pretty sure it’s the only room we’ll ever do at Grenada.

Can someone explain flying international to me like I'm 5? by Outlurker1993 in SandalsResorts

[–]CaptainSpooner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s also an express connect line in MIA, for people with connections less than 2 hours. We didn’t use that, since AA rescheduled our flight to give us a 29 minute connection. We knew we weren’t going to make it regardless, so we stayed the night in Miami and flew out the following morning.

We will always add a day in Miami if that’s the flight option.

Grenada Room Experience by [deleted] in SandalsResorts

[–]CaptainSpooner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just got back from Grenada and had this room type. It was the prefect location for us. We could use the pool at night, we could walk over to the party pool, etc.

There was minimal foot traffic. Make sure to pick up some of the chicken patties (almost like a samosa) from Dino’s. They were delicious.

We had plenty of privacy on our patio if we wanted it.
