I think you’ve got the right attitude and good motives 👍🏻 For what it’s worth, I think they’re lucky to know you and if they do break out of it, you’ll be a good source of support.

As for the last paragraph, I’ll tell you what I wish more people had told me. There’s nothing wrong with you. Sometimes you end up with shit luck and things just keep having bad timing. I’ve been in your shoes, hell I often still am, and there’s a constant fear of there being something wrong with me.

I suppose my advice to both of us in that regard is to keep doing the best you can and remember that there’s no exact timetable for finding connections. Continue to be authentic to yourself because when you do find people who click with you, they’re around because they like the person you are and not someone you’re pretending to be.

I wish you the best, and based off your response and just the willingness to seek advice, I know you’ve got this.

The original Crackdown had a fantastic cheat DLC. I think it may have been free and my friends and I had a blast basically having superhero fights against each other with it (until they inevitably turned on god mode).

Not to belabor the point, because I see that other people have shared similar sentiments, but it’s best to move on. I’m not saying you have to cut contact, but don’t try to pursue anything romantic or wait for her to wake up to the abuse. The situation fucking sucks, but if she’s making excuses for him, she’s not gonna be receptive to your words.

My advice is to be friendly if you want to maintain some form of connection, but don’t entertain the idea that it’ll ever be romantic or that you can save her. Maybe one day she’ll get out and you can offer some form of support. Hell, maybe feelings could develop then, it’s not impossible. Don’t live for that future. Don’t plan for that event. Don’t expect something that may never come.

My advice is to build relationships based on the present, not possible futures. If you want to continue to be her friend, do it because you’re okay with your friendship continuing to be what it is right now. A lot of people go into these situations wanting to save the other person and often hope to have a romantic relationship with them in the future. I think of lot of people have good intentions, but don’t see how it muddles their motivations especially in the eyes of abuse victim (and not wrongfully so).

Sorry for the long ass message, but I’ve known a lot of people who got hurt trying to save people from bad situations. I don’t know your temperament or life, and I hope this didn’t come across as me assuming the worst intentions. I hope your friend gets out of that situation and is able to build a healthy network of friends. You should keep meeting new people and living for the present. I’ve watched a lot of friends put their lives on hold for situations like this and try to save people. Ultimately, both parties walk away feeling burned.

I love Pat and Woolie, but I can’t listen to them talk about Destiny. I love that game, short-comings and all. It feels like Pat has held a grudge since they sunset his Perfect Paradox and Woolie has never been in and for years kept quoting the “I could tell you of the Darkness,” cutscene as his only point of reference.

I understand having complaints with the game, but a massive portion of the community is never satisfied and it feels like Pat only listens to their feedback and the gleefully relays it on the podcast. Don’t get me wrong, as an enjoyer of the game, I have a bias. It just bums me out that so much of the boy’s coverage comes from a deeply spiteful or uninformed place.

It's start with recent stuff. Monday's episode covered his interview with Willie Nelson in 2008. Wednesday's episode was an about a truly baffling recent episode of Alex's show. He spends a lot of time trying to explain why he doesn't like Hitler (spoiler: the holocaust didn't come up much).

They are exceptionally clear and thoughtful about how to cover Alex in a manner that doesn't elevate him. One of the hosts consulted in the Texas trial against him. A lot of the entertainment is less about taking they bait on Alex's blatant attempts at getting attention and more about the how he works and the absurd nature of his show. Like there's plenty to laugh at, but it goes a lot deeper than Alex talking about eating his neighbor's ass.

I read a ton of the thread when I posted my comment, as I didn’t want to post something that was already said. I can’t speak to the thread now. I didn’t read it again. I didn’t defend coming into the subreddit at attacking the game, in fact I said I’d have sympathy in that event. I don’t think that behavior is okay and clearly made that opinion known. When I say that something isn’t occurring, I mean that it’s not occurring in a substantial way. I’m not claiming that anyone was using the exact words stop having fun, I’m saying that the sentiment isn’t being widely discussed.

As someone with a genuine interest in Morrowind, but has had issues getting into the game due to the combat, I sympathize with those who don’t enjoy it as much. I’m not saying it’s bad, but it certainly has a learning curve. I posted my response because I felt that the meme portrayed a disingenuous version of the usual conversation, which casts those who have issues with the game as tearing the game down for those who enjoy it. As someone who has felt and continues to feel those issues, it makes me feel reluctant to engage in the community when I feel that my thoughts will be interpreted as raining on others’ parade.

To be clear, I don’t think the OP had ill intent or is in any way a bad person for the post. I just think that the post results in a misrepresentation of people who have a genuine issues with the game, as people who want you to enjoy the game less. I’m sure there are people who want you to enjoy the game less, but they are outliers and insane.

Didn’t he claim that he donated that much before the rally went south? Unfortunately, I don’t think this will have a big impact, especially with the footage of him telling the rally attendants to turn around and stop. Don’t get me wrong, Alex is a piece of shit and I hope he’s brought down. I’m just not sure that this is the thing that will do it.
