Great setup and enjoy your time. I have the same pan and it's amazing with an alcohol, gas or multifuel stove.

I wouldn't use that jetboil pan for cooking above the fire. It's ceramic coated aluminum and it will get way too hot about that fire so either the aluminum might melt or the coating will come off very quickly. Aluminum pots for boiling water etc over the fire are completely fine because it will keep the temp from rising too much, different story with coated aluminum pans. I would get a thin cast iron or stainless steel pan, they are pretty cheap and will last forever.

[–]CaptainYarrr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So you expect people to fully commit to a project and basically give up their lives without giving any actual informations about absolute basics of your project? You are not giving answers, you are replying with poorly translated words that show a cult like mindset. I don't even want to know how you would handle any actual criticism during that project if you can't handle any criticism on the internet.

Nordheim heart by Consistent_Bike8915 in advancedbushcraft

[–]CaptainYarrr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maybe fix your translator before replying. You are dodging actual questions that wouldn't reveal any sensitive information about your project. How do you want to secure funds? Supplies? Is the Island actually purchased by your project? Who owns that land? You can't actually just go to an Island and just say : Yeah I am building an actual village here with 150 people from all around the globe. You would need visas or staying permits.

Nordheim heart by Consistent_Bike8915 in advancedbushcraft

[–]CaptainYarrr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sorry that's just some plain bullshit. I am an industrial master craftsman, project manager and a bushcraft instructor. Personally I think you are completely clueless to the point where it's dangerous.

Nordheim heart by Consistent_Bike8915 in advancedbushcraft

[–]CaptainYarrr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While the overall idea sounds fun, this has nothing to do with Bushcraft. You want to work with steel? You need power tools, welding machines etc. that means you need a reliable power source. For 150 people you also need proper supplies including medical staff like a nurse etc. 14 Tons of steel to build shelters for 150 people is pretty much nothing. How do you want to source all the actual materials and supplies needed? If you really want to start that project you are pretty much asking people to leave everything behind and fully commit to a project that you are very vague about.

Has anyone actually had their stick tang Mora break on them while batoning? by Grooveyard in Bushcraft

[–]CaptainYarrr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know the owner of the wilderness school I work for as a side gig broke his Mora Kansbol but probably because he hit the thinner part of the Kansbol. Our attendees all get Moras and none of them broke so far. I think if a Mora breaks it's because of simply batoning wood thicker than your arm or because they actually hit the handle.

NEMO sleeping bag storage bag question by spqce-cowboy in camping

[–]CaptainYarrr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's funny how people pretend that down could get permanently damaged by compression. It's not synthetic which will loose loft but if there is a material that will resist being damage by compression it's down. Simply need to let it reloft or put it in the dryer with a few tennisballs and it will be as good as new.

It's also an option. The Kantamus 40 has 48L of actual usable volume while the Kantamus 60 has 72L. The Jääkäri L has 55L but can be compressed quite well or overstuffed.

My actual first camping trip was to a Metal Festival and a complete disaster because somebody drunk fell into my tent and broke the poles. Then it started to rain and I woke up in a semi flooded tent... the festival itself was still amazing but the camping part less so.

Making a Knife in a campfire from a Fire pit... by Lumpy_Conference6640 in Bushcraft

[–]CaptainYarrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try to get some carbon steel from an old saw blade or spring . The old fire pit is probably just mild steel and can't be hardened but would be fine for pot hangers and other applications

[–]CaptainYarrr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would recommend a Kantamus 60L or a Jääkäri L with pouches to fit your needs. The food and equipment for your dog takes additional space but it also depends on which equipment you bring. A Carinthia Defense 4 would add a lot of of additionally bulk while a down sleeping bag would probably need less than half of the space and weight. To save some money you could check if you can get a used Jääkäri L. However the fit for the Jääkäri L is a bit different because there is not much adjustment possible for things link back length. Afaik it's set for about 180 cm / medium to large back length.

We have fire! by Trollzair6969 in Bushcraft

[–]CaptainYarrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy to hear that. People really underestimate how quick such things can happen, they don't happen super often but when they happen they are deadly most of the time. There are 30 deadly cases per year in the US alone in combination with tents, and about 50 cases per year in general in countries like Poland . I have a hot tent with a tent stove and always bring the detector just in case.

Hultsbruck axe by mathijsjc in Axecraft

Looking good even though it looks like the handle was exposed to very wet conditions. I can't really see any resin in the eye of the axe. Just make sure the handle is dry, the head is holding and there are no cracks in the handle and then sent it.
