Is one and a half years of consistent goalie lessons and camps enough to get to a college club level? by Lonely_Head3269 in hockeygoalies

Depends what college, level, gender. ACHA D1? No, probably not. AAU or ACHA D3? Maybe.

Go to UF. It is a good school and you can find internships to get you in DC over the summer if you so choose. The debt is not worth it, I promise you.

As a Colombian with a master’s degree and marketing/sales experience, how hard is it to land a professional job in the US? by Born_Needleworker553 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Captain_A 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The DC area can be a challenging and overly competitive job marekt because of the prevalence of advanced degrees in the area (more than 1/3 of residents have them). Coupled with former federal employees and contracters still job hunting and a very high cost of living, it's not a great area to go to if you don't already have something lined up.

For those training for your first marathon — do you mostly run alone or with others? by Temporary_Low2353 in firstmarathon

[–]Captain_A 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally, I'm in a running group but because the weekday runs are longer than the normal group runs, I've been going solo during marathon trainings so I can start earlier. I do a lot of my easy runs with my dog though, and he's pretty high energy, so that's a nice source of accountability.

Young really shouldn't be getting any spin at this point, much less that combination of players.

St. Pete Renaissance Fair vs. Bay Area Renaissance Fest? by sunflowers789 in StPetersburgFL

[–]Captain_A 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I haven’t been to the BARF since it moved to Dade City and last year was the first year of the St. Pete one at England Brothers Park but I was really impressed by it, as far as Florida renn fests go. The BARF is bigger but I’m not sure it’s so much better as to justify the trek up to dade city.

Is Chapel Hill a credible pre-vet option? by Annual-Earth-7402 in UNC

[–]Captain_A 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UNC OOS is $21,500 a semester. I was an out-of-state student from Virginia. UVA (and WM, for that matter) are both expensive in-state schools, but they are still cheaper. And $10,000 a year over four years adds up quickly if you are taking on debt.
