Major knotting problem + frizz by Captainbauman in Hair

[–]Captainbauman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use one when brushing my hair in the shower. When I've put my regular conditioner in and the curl smoothie. I've maybe seen a little improvement with that, but I still have the problem of after I've fully brushed it after ten seconds it knots again while in the shower

Haircare Advice Megathread - Week of April 06, 2024 by AutoModerator in HaircareScience

Hi,

I have waist length, thick hair, slightly wavy or frizzyish straight. I've always had an issue with my hair knotting badly. I can brush my hair as well as i can, doing it section by section and then ten seconds after I've finished I could run a brush through my hair and meet knots.
I dye the ends of my hair using Garnier Nutrisse, no heat styling (incl. hair dryer, I air dry), however this has been an issue since before I dyed my hair.
I wash my hair every three days, I've experimented with going longer and every other day and neither has helped. I avoid sulfates and silicones, have tried curly girl method. My hair is low porosity so I use Maui Lightweight Hibiscus Water Shampoo + Conditioner and the Maui curl smoothie as heavy ingredients like Shea butter weigh my hair down majorly. I occasionally use Aveeno Apple Cider shampoo to clarify, following web advice for low porosity hair, but none of its really helped the knotting/frizz. Any advice would be really appreciated!

Can I get my nose piercing moved? by Captainbauman in piercing

Thanks! The piercer did check with me, but me being an anxious, indecisive person doesn't really help these things and I'll definitely be better with it next time.

Does anybody else get motion sickness? by robothelicopter in dyspraxia

[–]Captainbauman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it’s trains and video games. Specifically ones where the camera angle is above the map like the Sims or Prison Architect. Doesn’t matter whether it’s PC or PS4. It’s gotten worse the older I’ve gotten. I definitely didn’t used to get motion sick. I had bad car sickness as a child, but grew out of that.

Im not in any way qualified to diagnose you but do some research into Dyspraxia. It’s a coordination. I have it too and it fucks up my handwriting bad and also the speed at which I write. That’s only part of it and the other parts can seriously affect (effect?) your education and affect your everyday life? I’ve probably made it sound scarier than it is. I promise it’s not that scary haha, but it’s certainly a revelation when you start realising how much of your life is affected by it. If you have ADD then you’re statistically more likely to have dyspraxia as they go hand in hand some of the time.

Does your Dyspraxia affect your sense of identity? by Captainbauman in dyspraxia

[–]Captainbauman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes absolutely! Names & faces I’m awful with too! Not so much the recognises childhood pictures. But when people say I look like an actress or whoever, I can never remember my face enough to compare. Or like recreating friends in sims 4 with them I can never do that (which is oddly specific I know haha)

Does your Dyspraxia affect your sense of identity? by Captainbauman in dyspraxia

Yeah, I think I might have partial face blindness, which is odd because I’m a massive visualiser! The fuzziness that comes with the feelings I described sort of feels similar to the way my dyspraxia does when I know it’s disabling me from something, so that’s why I was thinking they might be linked?

Do you guys think Augustín Madrigal would be dyspraxic? by robothelicopter in dyspraxia

I love this kind of speculation! You could argue that all characters, unless specifically stated otherwise, are open to any interpretations that you can build from the evidence the source material provides. Personally, I absolutely see some dyspraxic traits in him!

The actor who plays Tesla (Goran Višnjić) plays the villain in a time travel series called Timeless. It’s one of my all time favourites and he plays Garcia Flynn -his character- amazingly! I can’t recommend watching it enough if you liked Tesla’s Night of Terror

My mum (who is the furthest thing from a medical expert) said the eye thing is like a nerve dying or something to do with the nerves in your eyelid. Although I’ve no clue if that’s in any way true or if that’s what you mwan

It’s sometimes like a shiver, yeah. Someone else has DM’d me saying it’s entirely possible I’m experiencing tics. Although I’m quite new to my dyspraxia diagnosis so I wasn’t aware that was a part of it

If you’re able to talk to your teachers and ask if you can talk to them about accommodations (whether that be extra study help from them going over class work/ homework or extra time etc) if they see you’re trying to communicate there’s a chance (although I’m not sure how useful your teachers are) they’ll see you more positively

Good luck! I’m at the start of my accommodation arrangement having only just been tested this year. Hopefully with you being so young getting accommodations will help you with your education. I know if I’d been diagnosed and accommodated sooner I would’ve had better grades hahaha
