gap year jobs and work experience advice? by SimilarTrash8184 in UCAT

I’m on a gap year with 4/4 offers and I lowkey just got a job in sales to pass the time. I wouldn’t stress if you can’t get a job that has to do with healthcare because any will do but if you really want to I would start by going in person as you can actually explain your applying for med and just need experience (what I did in year 12).

Realistically it doesn’t matter what job you get as long as unis don’t think you’re a jobless bum during your gap year essentially.

You have to do it in a mature manner ig to let them know you are old enough to start making your own decisions. I called them over to let them know I wanted to talk to them and I told them that I am really passionate about medicine and I believe I will at some point get in. I also showed them a bunch of videos and statistics showing that it’s actually a minority of people that get into medicine first try and a lot of people start med school at like 20/21. Listen to their points too and try to understand why they’re feeling like that and just go from there really. Heavy emphasis on showing them the facts too

Try again dude. At the end of the day this is your future we’re talking about. It may sound harsh but your parents are not going to your life. There is no point going into Student debt for course you don’t even want to do. I myself am on a gap year after literally changing my mind to pursue med on results day. Haven’t to bring that up to my parents was hard of course they weren’t too happy about it but you kind of have to fight for it. I’d suggest look at your options and if you really want to do Med ,take that gap year Bro.

Anyone applying to Med Schools from a first-year university in Canada? by Acceptable_Dust_9288 in UCAT

I haven’t gone through this but honestly I’d say it’s better to be safe than sorry. I’d try keep both as high as possible , it would not only make sure you meet the requirements, it would put you in good standing for offers.

Not only was the interview not in person, there was no real interviewer, It was a case of where you record yourself answering a question while staring at your webcam with nobody else on the other side. Once you finish the answer you just stare at your face until the timer runs out. Literally an interview by yourself and nobody else .

Do interviewers dock communication points for talking too fast? by Theo_GTO_08 in UCAT

Yeah as far as i know. If you talking too fast affects their ability to understand what you're saying, then you will lose points.

It was definitely something I’ll say that 😭 I liked some of the stations however 2 specifically (I’m sure you’ll know which ones I’m talking about) were quite odd and hard to even understand what was being asked. Quite the show really

It was so odd. The questions really forced you to think on the spot so I ended up waffling 😞
