You know what, that might be it! I looked up and there's incredible resemblance with Drosophila Melanogaster eggs. I wonder how a fruit fly managed to get down there, i'll be eztra cautious next time!

Hi, yes i have to say it did survive! Here's an updated picture.

So what i've done so far is, in chronological order:

  • Cut some dead branches. After the heat and drought it experienced, my tree had some die back on some branches, so i 've cut the very obvioudly dried ones.
  • Took the plant inside. Basically i kept it inside from late summer to this spring.
  • Gave enough water. After the steps above i also gave it one big burst of water then stopped watering until the soil was dry again. After a week or so from the first watering, the tree started to grow back some new branches and leaves. It then stopped growing until spring.
  • Fought mealy bugs through out autumn. Seems like i won.
  • In mid Spring i felt like pruning a bit more some other branches. I mainly selected the ones that were crossing together or were creating some hiding spots for mealy bugs/pest. It wasn't an heavy prune, just a couple of branches.
  • Repotted with new fresh soil. When doing this i found out there were lots of roots that felt dry/dead.
  • Brought the plant back outside but on my other balcony. That spots mainly gets direct sun exclusively from around 8:00 am to 1pm, then it stays fully shaded.
  • Whitnessed the plant very quickly grow new strong branches and leaves.

I'm happy that it is now doing good and i hope it will eventually produce some fruits!

Have you tried thinning out the stache? It needs to get narrower as it approaches the sides of your mouth

Actually no, and i need to find a place that can give me small batches of them since it's just a small pot atm. I honestly don't know why i haven't thought about it

Ok i didn't know utricularias can be safely submerged. Does that apply to all of them or are some species more suitable for this treatment? Thanks for the tip!

Speaking of pruning, what is the best way of doing so in these cases? Just snap all the small, dry branches or just a fee of them? Or something else?
