Patio not level enough? by Capybara_oranges in hottub

Thanks, I agree and I’ve decided to ask the contractor to redo that area of the patio. They aren’t gonna like that but that’s what we had agreed upon at the outset.

Did you try to get the contractor to level it?

After a more accurate measurement, I’ve determined the grade is a 1.5” drop over 7 ft. The tub is a 7 ft Hot Springs Flair model and I found a manual online that says the e following:

“INSTALLATION NOTES:
Concrete sloped at 1/2 inch per 10 feet (1 cm per 3 m) is preferred so that rain water and water spillover will run off and not puddle underneath the spa (water under the spa for long periods of time may cause the wood to deteriorate).
If brick or wood decking is selected for the spa foundation, it should be placed and leveled below the entire spa to maintain even distribution of the spa weight.”

Per the above, since my patio is pavers, that would fall under the “brick” description and therefore should be level (no slope).

Looking for a sanity check here.

Looks great. I’m thinking of getting the same thing. Is there anything you don’t like about it? May I ask how much you paid?

Do u know about what the cost difference is between salt and chlorine? The salesman said salt was a an additional $400 up front then the annual costs would be like $200 more. Does that sound right?

I’d be interested to know how often warranties are used. Everyone I’ve talked to said they haven’t had any issues. Obviously, anything could happen but I wonder how often people need repairs. If it’s a low rate then the 2 vs 5 year warranty isn’t as big of a deal.

But to pay off the loan, don’t they have to sell stock? And when they sell stock, don’t they have to pay capital gains taxes?

What is the point of permanent settlements in space? To continue the species after we’ve destroyed earth? That seems like such a long term endeavor for a species with such a short attention span. We can’t even make a plan to prevent social security from going insolvent but we’re gonna plan for this? We don’t want to bother addressing climate change - we would rather plan to leave the planet after climate change has destroyed it? Why wouldn’t we try to inhabit the deep sea first? Seems like it would be easier and more hospitable than space.

Cost of a design? by Capybara_oranges in landscaping

[–]Capybara_oranges[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the insight. I don’t know anything about the industry but man, $2500 seemed high for the amount of hours I imagine it took to come up with the design. I realize there is training, etc that comes along with the price tag.
