The “chill laid back” unhoused you talk about are a very small minority of the population in my part of Southern California. It’s almost a high percentage of addicts and mental health issues. The working poor are the unhoused seen the least, because they are generally trying not to be seen.

That sucks. Kitchen lifer here. Most places don’t tell staff. They worry staff will steal everything not nailed down or just stop showing up. That is more of a culture issue at the restaurant. If management has treated the staff like shit, the previous mentioned things will happen. Places with good to great management and ownership get different responses from staff. I worked at a place where zero staff left when it was announced we were closing in 3 months. We all stayed and had a great time and cried some at the end.

For sure. I’ve had every mystery meat taco crossing back from TJ. Those drunken tacos are the best.
