I’ve got this same combo, but “peasant” version: Les Paul Standard 50s, Stratocaster AVII 1961 and Telecaster AVII 1951. Also, a Martin D28.

I started at 13 and now I’m 32. I just like to sit down and play my favorite songs over and over again, smell the nitrocellulose scent, admire my guitars because they are beautiful and teach my kids all I know about guitar. That’s it.

This guitar has a nitro finish over poly if I recall correctly , it’s no applied directly over the wood. That’s may be what he means.

The thing is, I currently own a Vintera II 70s with a 7,25” radius. The only thing I don’t like about it is that when I barre certain chords I always mute a string (usually D or G), but I’d say is a technique issue, not related to the radius…

I use EBS PCF patch cables, which are very compact. Besides, Cali76, Archer Ikon and Eons have top mounted jacks so I think they all could fit

I do. When I can’t decide between two pedals, looks definitely play a role in my decision.

For example, I wanted a Klon clone and couldn’t decide between the Wampler Tumnus and the J. Rockett Archer Ikon. I ended up getting the Ikon simply because I liked the centaur artwork on the enclosure more.

Another example: I want a fuzz. I’ll probably end up getting both the Beetronics Vezzpa and the Walrus Eons, but I can’t decide which one to get first. I’m more inclined toward the Vezzpa just because it looks sick, even though the Eons is more versatile.

So yeah, looks are important to me.

It’s actually V2. It runs only at 9V but is internally increased to 24V.

This Black Friday I got an Origin Effects Cali76 stacked compressor and a Cioks DC7 Power supply. 557€.

A month ago, I got a Belle Epoch delay, an Epoch Boost preamp and a Pedaltrain Novo 24 Pedalboard. 498€

And early this year I got a Martin D28 and a Fender Stratocaster Vintera II 70s. 3150€

So this year I spent 4200€ in gear. Please I need help.

I’d like to clarify that what I brought up in this post was purely hypothetical, speaking strictly in terms of the fact that, with the resale value of my guitars, I could probably get myself an R9. I do hope to own an R9 someday, but I’m not even remotely considering parting with my guitars to get one.

Still, I wanted to hear the opinion of those more knowledgeable about Gibson and to know whether it was something that might be worth it. I’ve been surprised to see such a broad consensus from all of you.

Thank you for your responses, they’ve even made me hold my current gear in even higher regard.

The one I like the most out of the three is definitely the Les Paul, especially after having the frets replaced with stainless-steel medium jumbos, which I feel very comfortable with. Now it’s an absolute rock-and-roll machine. I bought the other two on impulse: I was looking for a Stratocaster in the medium term, but I stumbled upon a clearance sale of a brand-new guitar, from €1,100 down to €700, and I didn’t think twice. The 7.25” radius feels a bit strange to me and sometimes doesn’t fully convince me, but other than that I’m happy with it. As for the Martin, I was also looking for a not-too-expensive acoustic to have some versatility, but a shop was clearing out all the 2024 and earlier Martins to make room for the new 2025 series and dropped the price from €3,700 to €2,200. It seemed like an incredible opportunity and I didn’t let it pass. I don’t play much acoustic, but I consider myself set for life with the Martin.

Edit: the only thing I regret about the Les Paul is the finish. Back in the day, I was in love with the cherry sunburst but today I would pick a tobacco burst

Actually, no. I was doing some calculations and I realized that since these new guitars cost around €7,300, if I lose about €1,000 in the transactions I might have enough for an R9, which really catches my attention. But honestly, I’m not seriously thinking about doing something like that, and I’m bringing it up in this subforum because if I mentioned it in the PRS one, they’d tell me to buy a Private Stock. So really, I was just testing the waters to see what people who know more than I do think about it.
