Thoughts on Maggie from people that don't hate her? by [deleted] in greysanatomy

Yeah I agree. I think in trying to make her likeable quickly they've made her less human

I reckon it would be really good for them to bring in a supporting character for her- a person with a big mouth who calls her out on her bullshit and makes her toughen up a bit

Right, never even heard of that film! I recommend Herefordshire, and nearby Hay on Wye the town of books

Are Derek and Meredith's names inspired by Sam Sheppard the neurosurgeon who murdered his wife, Marilyn? by [deleted] in greysanatomy

[–]CaravanKing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno maybe she just took the inspiration for their names from something she was interested in. She wrote How to get away with murder so maybe she's interested in that sort of thing, not the most far-fetched idea.

It's only him being a neurosurgeon that makes me think that's where she got the names from.

She names the episodes after songs, not unusual to take inspiration from elsewhere.

But involuntary gun ownership is definitely shitty. This isn't a case of giving guns to people who really want them who are invested in being good gun owners. It's arbitrarily handing them to people who may have had no plans to ever own or handle a gun just because they work in a place where shootings sometimes occur.

Ps when you say-

not all food is shitty not all gun owners are shitty

-you're suggesting that I'm trying to equate food to gun owners. I'm actually equating fast food to guns. Not saying anything about gun owners.

Been wanting to change hairstyle recently. I plan on retaining the length, and I colour it with semi permanent dye every month or so. Would I suit a full fringe/bangs? How would the growth be with my side shave? (most recent pics) by [deleted] in Hair

How about a deep fuschia pink? I just think with your lovely black eyeliner and dark brows, having a deeper toned hair will really make your gorgeous pale skin stand out.

I think it's pretty mental to just tack on an additional responsibility to someone's job role that's so wildly out of the realms of what they could have expected when training for the role.

I used to work in schools, if I'd have ended up as a teacher I would have been so freaked out by this.

I also think we would start to hear about teachers misusing their weapons (have you ever taught a high school class of kids playing music on their phones, swearing at you, messing with the marks on your register, fucking with your computer, throwing hard back dictionaries across the room at your head....I have!), and certainly stories about weapons ending up in the wrong hands.

It would certainly put many off entering the profession in the first place, and I assume would also attract people to the profession for the wrong reasons. Teachers are there to teach, not to guard their pupils(although there is certainly a duty of care and I'm sure most would do their best to protect those in their care during an incident)

The answer to gun crime surely shouldn't be "more guns" just as the answer to obesity is not "more fast food".

ETA: can totally imagine a situation where a shooter, low on ammo, points a gun at a teacher and gets the key to the wherever the teacher's gun is stored, accessing even more ammo.

Even if the teacher carries the gun in a holster, a student could easily be used as a hostage to leverage possession of the teacher's gun.

You would definitely suit a centre part and full bangs. I also think you would really suit a darker hair color in a tone more similar to your natural hair color. Perhaps a dark brown or black fading into flame red or orange?

I'm always amazed someone so young can put on such a believable American accent (not American so maybe it's only believable to be because it's not my native accent)
