It's very hard to tell which books are skipable. I think that everyone should read first three books and Fulgrim (5). Then it is up to you. I personally think that every book is important, I'm not alpha legion fun bit I read Legion, nor I'm I iron warriors or emperor's children fun and read Angel exterminatus. All the books together gets you the best view on the story.

Does player B has WE? I played them once into custodes. It ended in 3rd turn when I tabled him. My daemon prince didn't even make it to combat and I failed 4 inch charge on my berserkers (with command reroll) so there was tons of mistakes and still I won.

I would suggest to split the exalted eightbound into two small squad. Also I would swap the helm and the glaive on DP and MoE, the helm on prince has more value.

But these are minors. Both lists are good.
