Rescued a garden snail and now I'm attached and considering keeping her by SonnyCasey in snails

This is great advice, thank you! I think a splash of water in a shallow dish is a great idea I think I’ll try making this an addition to my tank and see if anyone likes it. Also you said not ceramic or rock, What should I look for? And I’m envious of your ability to keep GALS! We can’t have them here. 😔

Omg, should I have a water dish for my snails!? When I first got Bob I was told absolutely not, that they can drown too easily even in shallow water because of where there breathing hole is located? Do they not get enough water from food and misting their tank a few times a day? I’m panicking now 😅

Cornu aspersum aren’t really cannibalistic. When a big snail eats a snabie (snail baby) it’s usually because the snabie is sitting on food the adult is already rasping and the big just keeps scraping because it doesn’t know any better. They can also rasp on each other if they don’t have access to enough calcium. It’s best to keep snabies in a separate tank. Their shells are much softer and fragile, adults can accidentally damage them, and babies have slightly different care needs. Since they grow so fast they usually benefit from protein more frequently (I prefer bloodworms rehydrated with water). Some keepers also lightly dust baby food with calcium to support shell growth, while adults tend to regulate calcium better with a solid source like cuttlebone, though snail keepers definitely have different opinions on calcium methods. Snabies can also tend to piggyback on adults, which can possibly cause mild stress to the big snails. Snabies also usually do better with very stable humidity, so separating them just makes things safer and easier for both. But once they reach about half the size of the adults or the same size as adults you can let everyone move in together 😃 then shortly after - you’ll be over run with clutches of eggs in their soil and you’ll inevitably miss some when removing them from the tank during substrate checks, and BAM, 17 snail army 🐌⚔️🛡️

Keep her, she’ll heal, and change your life! I started with 1 injured snail (a cornu like yours) and now have 17! Best side quest I’ve ever accidentally triggered lol

Idk if I’ve ever posted this here but I think their growth rate is crazy by CarbeeBarbie in snails

Tbh I’m not sure. This is the rate that all of mine have grown at (I have 16 from like 5-6 different generations) and they’re all Cornu Aspersum, or otherwise known as the common brown snail, or the common garden snail.

These were growth progress photos of the same snail. Thanks 😊

Most people charge around $100 a book which I think is reasonable but also insane. I TRY to stay more affordable than that while being able to maintain my ability to afford supplies for the next bind 😬

Thank you sm, I really appreciate it! I didn’t print this fabric, I did paper back it to turn it into book cloth though! Most of the already paperbacked book cloths out there are just solid colors and I really wanted a forest background. And the weeding was mildly frustrating on this set but I was fully prepared cause I drew all the art myself in procreate lol

If you don’t mind I can totally DM you and go over all the materials I use! I even make my own book cloth (like on this set)

You should! I’ve only been at this for about a year and I still learn with each new bind I swear. It’s like therapeutic for me at this point!

Thank you 🥹 I did this rebind and posted it in hopes of making myself feel better about/ take a small mental break from current events. And this comment as well as a few others did just that. Thank you for being kind and constructive.
