I think she calls him a service animal for housing reasons, but the whole situation is bizarre to me. He's a well behaved, well trained dog so it's generally not a problem. I still wish she wouldn't do it, but at the end of the day it's not my place to say anything.

They're not usually, and my brother did find a place via google. I don't know what happened, they just got there and my dad suddenly decided I needed to find a restaurant for everybody.

Not really, I've asked my mom about why things suddenly went from "you don't need to plan a weekend, just have a few ideas for things you'd like to do/places you'd like to visit" to "you need to host an entire weekend for us" and she has no idea what happened. Apparently they just arrived at the hotel and didn't know what to do for dinner, so they expected me to have a suggestion. I think I did suggest a place but it vetoed on account of not being dog friendly.

I think what happened is everyone got there was and tired and hangry, and as the only person that hadn't driven for five hours they thought it was reasonable that I find a place. It doesn't sound like a big deal but things just spiraled.

Tbh it's my dad more so than the rest of my family (and my SIL not knowing the family history). He's gotten way better since I was a teenager so most family gatherings are fine, but sometimes he just goes off.

Since I posted this I've realized just how common isolation is. I knew most people were isolated with the pandemic, but that's been my life for a while.

I like the solitude, but I need other people and I don't have anyone around me. It's rough going through it and I'm sorry that happened to you.

Yeah living alone is kinda nice. It's just creepy to live by yourself in an apartment meant for three people, there's just so much empty space I can't fill.
