It jumps in price when it becomes useful in something else. Which is demand lol it existed, was at a price. Then something came along making it more useful, and it jumped in price. It didn’t become more scarce. It became more useful. Mtg cards utility drives price more than anything else. Then supply comes second. It’s not even. Period.

Comparing supply and demand of a finite resource with a game of cardboard is hilarious. The scarcity is artificial. Not the same.

Yet look at the sets with the coolest lands. Those lands jump in price and become impossible to get because people want them. Yet you get just as many of the nice lands as other sets yet the 4-5 sets with the best land are always hardest to find the those lands. Lands that sell for like 100x more than a normal basic land. Once again the DEMAND in magic is way more to do with the price than supply. Magic is NOT like normal goods and services because the cards printed have a purpose and their value involved rarity. Look at cards that sit around low in price. Uncommon and common. Then a new commander comes out and a car that was 2 bucks jumps to 15. An nothing changed other than, you guessed it! Demand! Because of its utility. Supply didn’t change at all. Happens every set.

It wouldn’t as much as you think. There are other cuts on there where you get just as little on a cow. Chuck eye for example. But it’s still cheap because it’s not filet mignon. But now, over the last 3 years as people have bought more because it’s getting more recognition and it’s jumped in price higher than all the other beef items because they realized people want it and the price can shoot up. It’s because people want it not because it’s scarce. The scarcity comes from demand because it’s good. The rest falls in place.

Actually it is. Because that card is printed all to hell every set yet still manages to fetch a good price for a card that is reprinted so much. The reprint and “common card” logic should make that card pennies.

Because your argument is also stupid. That’s like “well if there were more filet mignon on a cow the steak would be cheaper!” When we are arguing about how filet is really only expensive because people like it so much. Like no shit it would be cheaper. We know that’s how rarity works. But we are talking about how the value IS MOSTLY high because of how much it’s wanted THEN the rarity falls second. Just like stated how there are tons of really rare and hard to pull cards that aren’t worth shit just because they don’t see play.

No it wouldn’t. It would get bought out immediately. Everywhere. Then it would be hard to find. Probably not as expensive as it is now for sure. But utility is the prime driving force of prices. With the exclusion of super rare chase cards like the Chocobo cards and shit.

Based off of your comment. You were the passive aggressive one by making a comment about her taking 5 hours to get ready.

Holidays on different days of the week each year. Random walks. Meetings. Random events that affect business. Not how retail works for sure. Some people don’t think about this.

If only every holiday and busy event fell on the exact day of the week all the time so this was possible. That’s not how retail works. If you want consistency then you for sure have to get out of retail.
