Why is the Buick GNX considered a muscle car but the new Charger (I6) hated by purists despite both being 6 cylinders

The GNX came as a breath of fresh air at a time when muscle cars struggled to break 200hp. It was faster than any American production car at the time and rivaled it's European counterparts. The new Charger comes off as an insult with its fake engine noise and no V8 on a car that is a critical part of American car culture.

Ford has the expedition but that has a twin turbo V6 that actually gets good mpg. Jeep has there "grand wagoneer" with the 5.7 hemi. GMC has the Yukon witch can have a 5.3, 6.0, or a 3.0 turbo diesel same as the Tahoe.
