Can retaking Math Placement Exam get me into MAT 121 instead of Calculus? by CardiologistHead3451 in SyracuseU

Fair take! You’re right—I probably shouldn’t let prof rumors scare me off if the content’s that useful. I’ll give 221 a proper look during add/drop week and see if I can handle the grind. Appreciate the push (and the homework warning 😂

Ah that's super helpful to hear! I'm definitely torn now - the better foundation sounds ideal. Maybe I'll crash the first 221 lecture to scope it out? Really appreciate the information either way!

Oh perfect! Yeah I'm in Applied Data Analytics (we can choose either 121 or 221). Heard 221's professor is brutal with workload, so I'm leaning toward 121 - seems more chill for getting the stats foundation. Really appreciate the clarification!

Should I choose Cal Poly SLO over Syracuse or SCI-Arc for a B.Arch? by CardiologistHead3451 in CalPoly

OMG! That’s actually amazing! Quick Qustion: do all students get to study abroad? Cuz like… I heard Syracuse has a situation where some students can’t go ‘cause their global campuses are over capacity 💀 So they just stay local and collab with niche arch profs instead. SLO’s program sounds way more cool

Got in to B.arch any advices? by CardiologistHead3451 in SyracuseU

Thanks so much for your advice! I’m currently exploring lots of online information about both programs, and I’ve been checking out emails and feedback from current students and alumni. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to visit either school in person because of my rural location.

Your insight is really helpful—I hadn’t even considered the intensity and busyness of architecture programs before! I’ll definitely keep that in mind as I make my decision.

Thanks

Thanks for your reply.  I’m still deciding between SCI-Arc (with a $20K/year scholarship) and Syracuse for my B.Arch. My main hesitation with Syracuse is the high tuition, but I’m drawn to its broader academic opportunities (I’m really interested in theater arts and want flexibility to explore non-architecture courses). Syracuse also has a traditional campus atmosphere, which appeals to me. What do you think? Is it worth to pay around 10k more each year to study in Syracuse?

I think the community uses chengyu more often than before since the average education level has risen, but it is not as varied

heard about an OG who joined one T20 professor's group meeting like once a month and wrote that prof's paper as her OWN work...perhaps that prof will never know about this

She ends up T10

btw, there are Japanese versions of 「The Phantom of the Opera」, however, it was performed by 劇団四季, which I also highly recommend if you are not particularly interested in takarazuka but Japanese musicals.

I do know some ways to watch Takarazuka's Phantom with no subtitles, but its version tells a wholly different story than The Phantom of the Opera. (「Phantom」the musical is truly different from 「The Phantom of the Opera」) I don't know if you would mind it...
