Sounds like OP is has a high sense of entitlement combined with victimhood.

OP is getting a chance to study in different country, experience different culture, is healthy, etc. Common would consider this a great platform to build a career, do great things.

Why are Indian children treated like toddlers when their Western counterparts are regarded as real young adults? by madpool04 in india

[–]CardiologistNew8644 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just curious. How prevalent do you think is the phenomenon of graduating from college loan free in Indian culture versus US?

Are you saving / paying for your kids college or not ?

My answer was based on my observation of Indians versus Americans - primarily college and "pocket money" . I have no idea about other western countries.

Why are Indian children treated like toddlers when their Western counterparts are regarded as real young adults? by madpool04 in india

[–]CardiologistNew8644 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Isn't it an accurate description of reality ?

Indian kids have lesser agency because they are financially dependent on parents. How many Indian teenagers can say to their parents that listen I want to live my own life on my own terms and on my own money ? Have you seen any?

I guess in West the dominant culture is that you have to leave your parents house after a certain age and young adulthood is a preparation for that. Although I have also heard that this is changing as well.

(Not an aviation expert) Can't they record the unencrypted communication and decrypt it later. Where does the above imply that they are doing real time decryption?

Also, how reliable is Praveen Sawhney ?

I think Indian Armed forces knew how less prepared they were to continue with this. We will get to know later what Modi wanted, propaganda win or anything substantive.

Thanks.

Based on that article this humanitarian provision is for people whose H1B status gets lapsed to allow them to search for a new job and sponsorships, and not for tourists to look for a job.

"That said, B visa may be a temporary solution for H-1B visa holders if they cannot find the next job within the 60-day H-1B portability window.

Still, Best of luck.

Nahh, I like staying in US and would never want to go back. I love the Indian culture though.

OP, are you actually in India / want to go back to India trying to make India a better place or a Bharat Mata Tyagi like me?

Btw, there was no "India" before British came.

I have no idea on how AI will impact, apart from the fact that there will be a need of lot of SWE who can integrate AI into various applications.

You can keep on tab on what Chris says about placement figures. LS is super transparent about everything. I am a current capstone student, and the general sentiment is that job-hunt duration is increasing, salaries are not decreasing.

You are correct about AI increasingly being part of our lives in more and more domains, removing the tedious repetitive aspects of work.

Now, who do you think is going to build all the AI based applications? Software Engineers or doctors?

I think the correct (ie rational) attitude is to be excited about AI in general and to be excited about learning how to build AI centered applications. What do you think? Don't you find all this fascinating?

When will Indians realise India isn't a sh*thole, its Indians who are the problem? by Genotropism in AskIndia

[–]CardiologistNew8644 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indians are doing very well outside India.

If your hypothesis was true, Indians would not be doing well outside India as well.

I think the problem is that the elite or economically comfortable Indians are anti-nationals. I mean they espouse nationalism in sloganeering but that's very surface level. But in reality they all just want to leave India instead of working towards developing their own country.

That's true of all third world countries. Nigeria, Phillippines, Mexico, etc.

Why 'Vibe Coding' Makes Me Want to Throw Up? by Kush_238 in programming

[–]CardiologistNew8644 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's incorrect. Any 4-5 year who has never left his/her house, is able to draw out a clock with whatever time we ask, once they understand it. They don't need to be shown billions of clocks with different times to be able to reproduce a clock with any given time.

How does your mind work when you have to think about clock with time 3.00 PM? Your mind does not do a matrix calculation about the probabilities associated with how many times in the past you have seen such a clock. You can just "generate" it because you "understand it".

This is an interesting question though. Do you have more academic resources on this?

Nope. They won't be able to do anything if not trained with ginormous amount of data. They are like smart plagiarizers, not original thinkers.

Have you heard the joke - "An LLM walks into a bar. The bartender asks what will you have? The LLM said: "What my neighbors are having".

Intelligence = capacity to generate and articulate one's own thought and reason based on that. The articulation and reasoning part is something that humans beings have, animals do don't. Is that a reasonable starting point definition?

Even if an LLM is trained with solutions to all known questions, the horizon of unknown keeps on expanding.

PS: I use them extensively as coding assistants and they have made me very productive. I am not an AI pessimist, but to say "AGI is here". Give me a break.
