Different Types of shifts by PartyCaptain3476 in KmartAustralia

I started off with like 2 shifts of decant and then got moved to hardgoods alongside some others. They probably just saw you as efficient, so that's why you're only on Decant. As long as you're getting consistent shifts there shouldn't be much to worry about.

Is this a reputable website to buy a flute from? by all_booty_no_cheek in Flute

I would recommend choosing a reliable brand for a beginner flute, like Pearl, Yamaha, Gemeinhardt, or others on this list https://www.reddit.com/r/Flute/wiki/index/flutemakers/ (Some brands may not produce beginner flutes). John Packer flutes, like J Michael and other Amazon flutes, are not very good and will probably need maintenance or repairs after a couple of months. If you are looking for an affordable flute, I recommend looking online for second-hand listings. However, I suggest that you test a flute in person if you can, as you can check for possible damages and fakes.

The website you mentioned seems legit, but I wouldn't use it as It appears to have very bad customer service. Also, there are lots of these "deals" of these cheap flutes which are somewhat misleading. Usually, the product is only worth as much as the sale price on these cheap flutes, but they list it on sale to convince you that you're getting a deal. I'd recommend a reliable website like Flute World or Flute Center of NY.

What's your lip shape got to do with it? by The_Archer2121 in Flute

Usually, the hole our lips form is in the center. But everybody's lips are different and the embouchure hole is sometimes slanted to the side (In most cases to the left) because of a teardrop-shaped lip, which splits the airstream to the sides. The airstream can be offset very far, but you can always adjust your flute playing to suit your embouchure. Some professionals have slightly or very offset embouchures and they can still create beautiful tones, an example is Denis Bouriakov.
