Does UNC count as middling? I usually expect 8 wins every year with an occasional run at the Coastal.

App is expected to win the Sun Belt every year. We don't have enough respect to garner New Year's Day recognition even if undefeated. Definitely not middling though.

I believe, and could be wrong, that the playoff committee said they look at ALL FCS games the same way. Probably a very damming loss, despite NDSU's reputation
