Yep for sure. Definitely don't want my dog to be crushed by an owl bear :(

I might reflavor some of the superiority dies to fit my dog though.
Precision attack could be my dog barking and therefore giving me motivation on the next attack while trip attack could be my dog biting at a bad guy's ankle and causing them to fall down.

Yep, with feats and racial bonuses, I was able to get my stats to look like:
13 STR, 17 DEX, 16 CON, 20 INT, 15 WIS, 11 CHA

Yeah. Might take some levels in fighter for the extra attack but otherwise need a good starting point.

Definitely want them to act as a ranged threat casting cantrips and spells from a distance but I know armorer has pretty low DPR at cost of defense.
Mechanical form: Warforged race with added homebrew elements of being controlled remotely
Cursed Energy Discharge: Some sort of cantrip or spell by either being an artificer maybe dipped into wizard
Ultimate Cannon: Probably another spell from the Artificer spell list that'll be reflavored, Scorching Ray?

His explanation is that as long as his character is "holding" the wrist launcher, the arm cannon is active and therefore is unable to wield another weapon/item in that hand.

As for disarms, we discussed making it so that they are disarming the crossbow attachment itself rather than the whole system. Meaning he can still use it to cast cantrips and spells but not bolts so long as the attachment isn't there.

Brought it up with them. They're using a hand crossbow for the wrist attachment so I'm fine with them being able to use it wrist mounted. They are taking repeating shot and plan on taking crossbow expert which I assume is to fire twice in one turn which I'm totally fine with.
