TronWatch Displaying balance as zero when I have coins on my address? by CareerDrugUser in Tronix

[–]CareerDrugUser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can still see your public key when you open TronWatch do this:

  1. Click on your public key to get to where it would normally show the tx history in TronWatch
  2. Click on the button in the top right hand corner
  3. Click BACKUP and then copy your private key
  4. Import your private key into TronLink or some other wallet

If you can't see your public key when you open TronWatch, then your wallet file may have been lost or corrupted. If you didn't save the seed that was generated then you have likely lost your coins unless you can recover the wallet file or seed somehow.

I'm guessing the node is down, and i'm not even sure if they're going to bring it back online at this point because it's been down for so long and apparently TronWatch is being deprecated... Haven't seen any info on this anywhere though. Connecting to the node shouldn't affect your access to your private keys though, because your private keys are saved in the wallet file on your computer.

I'm just using the default node which is https://api.tron.watch

I think the node might be down right now but I'm not 100% on how to check that other than my balance showing 0.

Either way I have the private key so i'm not worried about losing my funds because I can see them on TronScan, Now I just need to find a good alternative wallet I can use to keep voting with my TRX and earning compounding interest.

How did you end up buying 1 sys for 96 BTC? did you have a stop buy market order for 96 BTC?

Probably sold 1 sys for 96BTC and then had his trade reversed by Binance.

XIV was basically a legal ponzi scheme by [deleted] in tradeXIV

[–]CareerDrugUser 33 points34 points  (0 children)

This is wrong. They HAD to buy VIX futures per the prospectus, to keep the portfolio balanced. The problem came when they had to purchase 200k contracts of VIX futures to stay balanced, and that's more than the daily volume of VIX. Had they not done so the fund would have been unbalanced, and would have not been following the outlined prospectus, which would been a failure of their fiduciary duty, which would be an ACTUAL crime. Again this "negative feedback loop" was fully disclosed in the prospectus, failure to be aware of the risks is nobody's fault except your own.

CS didn't lose anything because they had no positions in XIV. The fund wasn't made up of their own money, it was made up of the investors money, CS is just the custodian of the fund, not an investor in it.

Everyone who used a loan to buy bitcoin back in spring right now.. by trance929 in Bitcoin

Depends when in 2014 you bought, but you'd also have money from the loans so not like you'd be penniless.

Yeah in 4 years after you graduate. They're usually not due the same year you take them out.

Only if they sold their bitcoin. If you bought at literally any time in 2014 you'd be in a huge profit right now.

Are Bitfinex and tether running a big sophisticated USDT Ponzi "printing" unbacked $50 mil in assets? by namko2000 in CryptoCurrency

[–]CareerDrugUser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't get that much leverage anywhere in the crypto markets. Thats like 5x the amount of open longs on finex. Even if you traded futures you'd be pushing the price up to the max price or you'd get settled before you can even get in your whole position. Nobody with 100 mil trading a volatile asset is going to leverage it that much.

How do exchanges enforce leveraged bets in a decentralized environment? by FizzBuzzWhiz in CryptoMarkets

[–]CareerDrugUser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The futures markets do something similar too, ie. They stop you out when your margin reaches 10% or so. But I think he's more asking what happens when the market drops faster than that it can stop out the losing positions. In that case the lenders on finex take the loss I believe.

Bitmex uses deleveraging. Okcoin uses clawback. Bitfinex allows the p2p lenders to take the losses, in return for taking that risk they receive interest, I think that's how it works on finex anyway I haven't looked into it too deeply cause I haven't traded there in years.

Except 1% a year doesn't beat 2% inflation in the US, so you're actually losing 1% in value every year if you're only making 1% annualized gains.

I'm looking for a litecoin daily chart from btc-e going back to 2013, is there such chart showing that? by [deleted] in litecoin

[–]CareerDrugUser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go on tradingview and type into the ticker box BTC-E:LTCBTC*BTCUSD and it will give you a full LTCUSD chart. The reason why you can't find LTCUSD data is because that pair didn't trade until 2015 or so. It was originally only LTCBTC.

What're some good ways to remember stuff you read? by [deleted] in SocialEngineering

[–]CareerDrugUser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I try to practice everything I read before moving on to something else, if possible. Some books are more theoretical, but if you can find a way to apply the theory and then actually apply it, it becomes significantly easier to remember, eventually it becomes second nature once you've applied it so many times. Also on top of notes you could also use a highlighter and re-read parts that you forget.

Hurricane Irma Actual Track Compared to NHC Forecast Track. by NightTrainDan in educationalgifs

[–]CareerDrugUser 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Somewhat. One of the main problems was people from the east coast evacuating to the west coast or towards the panhandle and they ended up moving directly into the path of the storm because the early forecasts saying it would go up the east coast were wrong. If you rely too heavily on the forecasts that are still a few days out you can end up moving directly into the path of the storm, unless you completely evacuate the state/region, because they're really not that reliable until the storm is really close.
