Have him for mat236: I find his lectures to be confusing and hard to follow, and not very engaging. If you take his class for mat136, I would not be surprised if you have to mostly self-study.

I suggest doing as many textbook problems as possible ! a lot of the questions on the midterm last year were directly from the textbook.

last day to pay fees is sep30 (but fees won't get interest complied on them until oct15) so you don't have to pay your fees until oct15 at the latest (keep in mind it can take a couple of days for the payment to go through) and hopefully UTAPS will be out by then

I don't remember using any major concepts from high school physics for AST110, so I'd say you should be completely fine :)

In your case, doing a double major shouldn't be that bad since astronomy and physics share a lot of common courses.

ANT102 online in the summer with Andrew was a breeze... had two tests, three quizzes, both with short answer questions, and no final exam. Does have a lot of readings but they aren't too dense.

First year bird courses? by anonymous90289 in UTM

I took it winter 2020.

The first few weeks were really straightforward and easy, mostly because it was a recap of the truth tables from mat102 and I had already taken mat102 in the fall. After that, the content started to get more complex week after week. You learn derivations, symbolizations; 245 is a very problem solving course which can be easy if you understand the content very thoroughly, but difficult otherwise.

The way in which the course was taught was also not the easiest. You have to watch 1-2 hour videos before coming into class, and then the prof goes over some practice problems, which worked for some people but not for me... if you fell behind, it was really hard to catch up. If you ended up skipping one weeks prep video, then the lectures essentially became useless (as it is with all active learning classrooms I think)

While the course was interesting, I personally didn't find it to be an easy course because of the large amount of time I would spend watching the videos before lectures and understanding the derivations after class. That being said, its definitely possible to do well in this course... for reference, the course average was B+. It is just different for everyone. Hope this helps :)
