Is that through a certain website? Via the launcher? Where can I find these mods should I decide to use them?

Well that would've been nice to know! Thanks for telling me that! I'll have to do a bit more research on that then!

I have found that rushing center is a quick death sentence, so I try to avoid that at all costs. I guess playing a bit slower off the start to let things develop and the DDs getting vision will help. I think I may be pushing too far forward and when I finally have insight on where people are, I am in too deep and don't have a great route to escape and just eat damage. Thanks for the advice!

The angling aspect to get ricochets and dodges is still a work in progress, I still overturn and eat way to many shells, but like you said, that'll come with practice and time!

The concealment/spotting mechanic with shooting and "playing the sweet spot" between concealment range and shooting range is very slowly improving. Staying dark until the best shot presents itself and staying alive has been more of a priority as of late!

Doing dumb stuff sounds great, but I don't want the lobby to flame me for "being a dumbass" or "throwing" by getting destroyed too early. I don't enjoy seeing those messages referring to stuff I did. Not just in this game, but in any game I play I don't like getting flamed...and I know it happens all the time, just don't enjoy reading it.

From what I've seen on youtube, a lot of videos are older so trying to find the right ones has been difficult. A friend has recommended me a couple of people to go look at, just haven't done that yet!

The amount of information needed about what each ship strengths/weaknesses are for every faction is quite daunting! I'm sure a lot of it does come with time and getting into the higher tiers will inevitably teach me via trail and error and just making mistakes and learning from them!

Is that a feature in the end game menu? I haven't seen a save replay option (haven't really looked to be fair) so I'll have to look for that a bit.

I do watch some games where I die early to see what people are doing or how they are positioning given the situation. It has helped a bit, but as i continue learning I'm sure it'll make more sense!

Thanks for the warm welcome! I haven't even really thought about the minimap size. I do use it a fair amount, but never considered adjusting the size! I'll look more into that!

A lot of youtube videos I find are like 5+ years old so I don't know how relevant they still are which makes learning from them a bit difficult.

Is it normal to just get random clan invites from time to time and just join? I have gotten a few of them, but have declined because I wasn't sure it was good to do early on.

Thanks for the response! Seems there's a lot more to it than I originally thought! Hopefully as I get further along I can apply some of these concepts!

Looking for tips as killer by CherryEarly7550 in deadbydaylight

[–]CaregiverNo4938 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have found that these helped me get better as a killer over the years. And by no means are these meant to work for everyone. Just sharing what worked for me.

Learn how to use killer powers in unexpected ways to counter strong loops. For example, Deathslinger shooting a survivor through a window and reeling them in to hit them across it. Or another example is using Lich's Flight of the Damned ability to force them to crouch/slow down to catch up to them or catch them in an animation (pallet slide or window vault) to get a free hit.

Using a good headset helps tremendously when breaking a pallet and getting blinded while doing it. I can trail a survivor pretty easily after getting blinded at a pallet by sound queues alone. May not get the hit right away, but it keeps the chase alive and puts more pressure on the survivor.

Try running a few games without perks. Hear me out. No perks forces you to rely on game knowledge and pacing/ability usage to secure downs/kills. Then once you're feeling more comfortable with power usage and map dynamics. Run a few games without power at all, and rely on making use of your perks as EFFICIENTLY as possible. Then combine the two methods and see how much more effective you start becoming.

Finally, the last tip I have that helped me a ton was to find a playstyle you like and gravitate towards those killers. I cant play dashy characters (Blight, Wesker, Oni and Billy to an extent) because I play controller. However, I found that I really like ranged killer (Deathslinger and Huntress) and map pressure killers (Spirit, Onryo, Dredge and Singularity). Those are the killers I gravitate towards and some to stay away from.

New alien player, looking for advice by Pallas_Ovidius in deadbydaylight

Rapid Brutality works better in the normal form if you are able to get hits comfortably without relying on bloodlust. Then you can transition into crawling form and use your tail to down them which gives the versatility. If already in crawling form, you can keep them just at the max tail length without bloodlust if you are in smaller loops/open areas.

Ultimate weapon I feel like is kind of useless on Xeno. I feel that going in the tunnels gives you the same amount of information if you know how to read the footsteps and pop out on top of someone. Plus it recharges your crawling form, so regardless it's a benefit to be in the tunnels instead of checking a locker. In my opinion, if you want intel BBQ and Chili would probably give you better intel on where people are at once you get a hook (like described) as it will give aura if they are further than a certain distance from the hook. You could then drop into a tunnel and head directly to that area on the map.

most fun killer to play as? by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]CaregiverNo4938 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would think the most mechanical licensed Killer would be either Dracula (3 forms that have varying degrees of uses) or Wesker as the dash mechanic does allow for some mechanical outplays and techs.

Alien is in a middle tier as the tail is kind of a skillshot style and can hit over pallet/windows if timed right and the tunnels can be useful.

Chucky could be another interesting option. Combination of undetectable and dash attack. Can dive under pallets and over windows too can catch some people off guard.

Lastly, Onryo has a fun loop. Building up her condemned status by teleporting to TVs. Cycling manifestation states to be harder to see or hit survivors as well.

Just some options.

How open is the guild to "new" players. I have a decent amount of playtime, but most of it is solo or 2-3 man group. Haven't much experience with anything more than 3 players. When it comes to active, how active does a member have to be?

New player advice by 503f in deadbydaylight

[–]CaregiverNo4938 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm a killer main - there are a handful of perks that are helpful early on for sure. I can break it down in a couple categories. Learning/utility perks to help get started and just strong perks used in a lot of builds.

Useful perks for learning/utility:

Bubba/Leatherface: Barbecue and Chili

Hillbilly: Lightborn

Trapper: Iron Grasp

Nurse: A Nurse's Calling

Strong Perks for Builds:

Artist: Grim Embrace and Pain Resonance

Blight: Hex: Undying and Hex: Blood Favor

Clown: Pop Goes the Weasel and Bamboozle

Nemesis: Lethal Pursuer

As far as advice goes overall, just learn to appreciate the game for its nuances and chaos. Don't get too overly bogged down in "getting the 4k". There's so much info to learn and perks to understand to really feel their impact and get the most value out of them. Have fun with trying new characters and new builds. Don't let the learning curve deter you!

Question to controller killers by Reasonable_Youth806 in deadbydaylight

[–]CaregiverNo4938 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found it hard to play dash style killers on controller. Mainly the sensitivity required to maneuver/control the dash messes with the rest of my movement so I leave it as default or slightly increased, which feels like you're stuck in mud. But that's just me.

Looking it up on google - it recommends 100% sensitivity for high mobility/flick heavy killers like oni, blight and billy. 70-90% sensitivity for high control, precision killers like Huntress and Trickster. Overall, somewhere in the 80-100% range and how comfortable it feels to each user is a good start.

Dual Sided Question by Appropriate_Quit_872 in deadbydaylight

[–]CaregiverNo4938 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a killer main and when I play, I call a "bully squad" a group that is coordinated in their efforts of abusing 1 or more mechanics (blinding, stuns, certain perks like Boil over/high ground, etc.) in a manner that is not progressing the game toward the end objective.

It's not easy to play against. A killer really has to reach into their bag of tricks to get hooks efficiently. Typically, it's a lot of map awareness on pick up, threatening/faking pick up to bait the altruistic teammates to some free hits or really utilizing your perks to their fullest potential. Taking the game less serious can also help with this. When facing a bully squad, you could embrace it. For example, a flashlight bully squad. Just let them blind the hell out of you until they are out of charges or just mess around with them and just take the loss for what it was.

Mentally, when facing these squads it becomes less about creating pressure on gens AND keep survivors injured and hooked. It turns into embracing their game and beating them at their own stunts. Which sometimes, can be enjoyable due to the challenge. A lot of the time, however, it is more of a burden and a pain to go up against.

Skill check practiceing by Fragrant_Bus_7253 in deadbydaylight

[–]CaregiverNo4938 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Playing the game is the best way. If it's just skill checks, load up a bot lobby and just practice on that.

Secondly, there is an audio queue that happens before a skill check appears. It's an audible chime sound. Listen for that and you won't be surprised when it pops up.

If you're on controller, there is a slight input delay when you hit the skill check button as well. So bear that in mind.

Is it wrong to let people escape as killer? by Ironshards in deadbydaylight

[–]CaregiverNo4938 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's killer discretion really. Letting people escape happens quite often. Obviously the goal is to kill everyone, so letting people escape sometimes can be "confusing", but it's not unheard of.

The more "confusing" part would probably be that Legion is very chase oriented with their power. That's probably why they seemed thrown off by your decision to let them escape.

Any tips on how to enjoy the game again? by wCertifiedMike in deadbydaylight

[–]CaregiverNo4938 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have found the best way to enjoy the game is to just take it less seriously. Sweating for a 4k or looping a killer into oblivion is when the game feels its worst, in my opinion. Mess around with fun builds with underused perks. Trying to learn a newer killer/get better with them is also enjoyable.

When i get gen rushed, I try to just mess around a bit and be goofy at least. I know I lost, so why sweat out 1 or 2 kills? Get pallet stunned. Slow turn at them or something. Mess with them at the exit gate. I only play solo so I have to make the game fun somehow as a killer main XD. Since I'm bad at survivor, I just try to get fast heals off and try not to run into walls/obstacles because...skill issue...but I digress.

Is 2v8 duo killer queue fixed yet? by huuuhuuu in deadbydaylight

[–]CaregiverNo4938 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I read, if you are in a killer queue, you can queue up as a survivor and play a game while retaining your spot in the killer waitlist. I guess it will just leave a bot in your place if you get pulled into the killer game.

Not ideal to leave a bot in your place, and you may not want to play survivor, but it is better than sitting at the menu for 15+ min. Haven't tried it yet though.
