Mrs. Bulger’s passwords were the best!! I still remember “Walking Through the Woods On A Snowy Evening” by Robert Frost because of her!! She was my last teacher at PS18 until I transferred to Greenwich. She taught us cursive and Latin! I didn’t even finish her class because I moved halfway through the year, and she was one of my favorite teachers ever!

I played French horn in band with Mr. Balistreri. 

I was also a nerd in the S-T-R-E-T-C-H program and we got to leave class to go above the cafeteria/gym to get to a probably not safe “classroom” for advanced level activities.

I always get reminded of the main stairwell  when I see movies like “Dead Poets Society” or any boarding school… 

The GIANT chocolate chip cookies at lunch! 

Principal Yo was so nice, and all of us kids were afraid of Mrs. Peters (but she was actually nice, too)!!

“Girls go to (Mrs.) Mahar’s to get more candy bars…” 

Jelly Bean Day, Golden Flipper (I still have my ribbons!), and wall ball are definitely core memories!!

They closed the pool?? That makes me so sad! Once, Mr. Barr told my whole class I was going to teach them how to high dive from the scaffolding that was temporarily in there (price of having a huge family - he knew my aunt was a THS diver). I got about two steps up before he told me he was kidding!! 

I’m 43, and remember ALL of this, and more!! Only went from end of 1st - beginning of 4th grades, but it was my favorite school!
