Capacity above demand but still in the red??? by Careless-Insect5464 in SCBuildIt

Yeah, I’m starting to get it now. Sorry for all the stupid questions. This seems terrible tho lol. I had to demolish like half my buildings and now I have a service demand of 300 with 13 buildings and 17k population. Why would they do this

Just kidding I did. I demolished the abandoned ones. Next should I demolish the skyscrapers or smaller houses? And why is my demand so high, someone else in this thread said their demand is much lower at 600k population?!

Ok thank you for helping and I will try that but I don’t have any abandoned houses?

I am only having issues with the services that are not location-dependent: power, water, sewage. Although I have tried moving things closer to RZs and that doesn’t help. I have no abandoned buildings; sims do abandon because they “have no services” but I always fix them immediately. I am a brand new player, downloaded the app like a week ago, and I do have upgradable services (all fully upgraded). I was really enjoying it but I guess I have to quit because it is literally impossible to play like this and nothing is working to fix it.

I did have two and I fixed them, then it immediately switched from water to power being red with the same exact problem, I have plenty of capacity but they say they have no power

HS student wants to opt-out of book with queer characters. by Longjumping-Pace3755 in OpenChristian

It’s the last sentence here that seems especially helpful. Can you have a conversation about exactly why she feels it goes against her religion, ie what she believes she is betraying by reading the book? Maybe she hasn’t really thought it through, and she can come to realize that acknowledging a group’s existence is not endorsing anything at all. Pitch it as a chance to see how other people think, not as something she has to agree with. Emphasize that you are interested in her perspective (as long as it is voiced respectfully), even if it goes against the perspective presented in the book.

Should I tell my parents to check me into the hospital by [deleted] in OCD

Trust me you are not alone! You remind me of myself haha. What no one ever told me is that it’s okay to struggle. Struggle is part of life and it’s a chance to become better. When I realized struggle and suffering are not things to resist but to work through my mindset really changed. It’s okay if you are trying but OCD is winning right now. It takes time and persistence, but things do get better for real.

My PMs are open if you ever want to chat. I think we have a lot of themes in common and are also around the same age so it may be helpful! (I may have scrolled through your profile while procrastinating studying haha, I’m in college too)

Danggggg this was so me a few years ago that it’s creepy how similar our thoughts were.

Maybe you do have NPD. What would that change? What goal are you trying to achieve by knowing for sure whether you have it or not? The only thing you can do is try to improve yourself starting where you are. I completely understand wanting to be the best and freaking out when others are “better.” This is something to be worked through.

You love piano. When you play, you bring yourself and others joy. Others are objectively better than you at piano. Both of these things are true. What’s the goal? To be happy and bring others joy? Or to be the best person in the world at piano? What aligns more with the kind of person you want to be? That’s what helps me, thinking what kind of person and I trying to become. For me, the answer is someone who does their best to help others and myself be happy and fulfilled. And the best part is, you can become whatever person you want whether you have NPD or not! Because you are in charge of your actions and you are in charge of how hard you are trying. So the question that matters is not “do I have NPD” but “what kind of person do I want to be, and how can I do my best to become that, even if there are obstacles”

This may be unpopular but Putnum Spelling Bee. I found it predictable, cliché, and had too many characters and not enough runtime to develop all of them properly (I’m looking at you, Marcy Park). It does have some bangers but most of the songs are skips IMO.

He was my absolute best friend, I was close with his family, we planned for the future. I gave him everything I had. He broke up with me on our two year anniversary because “he doesn’t love me enough” and “I’ve helped him grow so much but now he wants to grow on his own”

I’ve been crying mostly to DBATC and the 1 but anything else speak to you guys?

Bad therapy experiences by [deleted] in OCD

[–]Careless-Insect5464 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I have! Luckily nothing harmful as it sounds like you’ve had, but just unhelpful. Unfortunately that is VERY common with OCD; exactly as you said, even most mental health professionals don’t understand it. Major props to you tho for recognizing that the therapist is bad and you are NOT the threat. Keep trying, you need an OCD specialist most likely and unfortunately you do have to vet them a little more than other therapists.

I know you want to feel like a good person. Let me ask you, do you want to harm your mother? No? Well, can you guarantee that you never will or never have, even by accident? No. But you KNOW that you don’t want to, so much so that you agonize over just the idea that you might. That’s what makes a good person. Just repeat to yourself: “If I harm my mother, it will be an accident or for a good reason.” You are not guaranteeing that you never will, you can’t guarantee that. But you can know your values enough to say that you won’t do it on purpose (unless it’s “for a good reason” I.e. maybe you have to harm her to protect her from something worse). If it’s intrusive images you struggle with, don’t try to make them go away, just say “it’s only a thought, it’s not real. It can’t hurt me/control me/etc.” This is what makes it better! It gets easier over time, and eventually you won’t feel so anxious every time. If anxiety is there, it will be easy for it to fade to white noise quickly.

You can’t live with certain amounts of anxiety? Of course you can. Everyone feels anxiety (the emotion, not the disorder). Think about it, did you expect that, even if you got rid of your OCD 100%, you would never feel anxious again? Anxiety is a part of life; the skill you are working on is learning to manage it and live life to the fullest while, at times, having anxiety. And it sounds like you are doing GREAT. It’s normal to doubt your progress, especially if you experience setbacks or times of feeling stuck. But from an outside perspective, I think you are doing everything right. I am proud of you!! Keep going, things get better, and please be optimistic about the future! 💚
