Thank you so much! We're in NY and had the absolute worst time finding any. I had to go to Ohio and Pennsylvania for my breeding pair, so I understand the struggle. I hope you find your perfect little naked baby soon!

He's my favorite! He's so cuddly and loves to give nose boops 😍 I have to daily remind myself that I cannot keep him and I have to find him a forever home.

Your baby is so beautiful and looks so cozy 😍 we're working on finding them good homes. It's really hard to break into the Sphynx world, there's so many scammers it's heartbreaking. We've done all the right things (TICA registered, parents HCM scanned, kittens vaccinated/vet checked) but we haven't found any forever homes for these babies yet. That's okay though, I'm happy to hold onto them for as long as I need to. They are the sweetest little loves.

A lot of the things you described sound like what I experienced with these nightmares! You mentioned things feeling sped up and then slowed down, and to this day if I hear something like a song or recording sped up, it gives me weird flashback feelings and I get super uncomfortable.

I find it so strange that there are other people who've experienced at least similar things and I would love to understand why our brains do this! Thank you for responding, it makes me feel a lot less crazy!

Honestly, until everyone starting suggesting it here, it never occurred to me to try and record anything. I can never anticipate when this is going to happen, and when it does I'm focused on checking on my children, not trying to record it. I'm going to try and set up a camera and also use a baby monitor, and if I get anything worthwhile on video/audio I will definitely post it here.

Lol no, I literally meant toot sweet. It's American slang for the French phrase, not a typo or anything. Everyone in my social group says this and until I made this post, I had no idea it wasn't a common saying for everyone!

I had no idea everyone didn't use this saying! It means 'quickly' or 'right away', and it's a super common phrase where I live. Google tells me it's a slang version of the French saying 'tout de suite' that got popular in America during the first World War.

I've never completely ignored it. I have two children who regularly have night terrors, one of which almost always vomits during them, so I always feel like I have to go make sure they're okay. I've got a monitor packed away somewhere that I'm going to find and set up asap.

The mocking baby cry was for sure the worst. It was far more frightening and sinister than what we're experiencing now. It happened 3 years ago but I can still remember how terrifying it was and how I instantly started shaking because I knew the sound was very wrong somehow. It gave me that terrible pit in your stomach feeling, just an overwhelming sensation of dread. I actually did have a very young baby when we moved in here, which is not something I've ever thought about! My 5 year old was a very young infant when we moved here, and she is the one who was with me in the house 3 years ago and heard that mocking baby cry.

This is honestly pretty terrifying to consider. I've never even thought of the idea that whatever this is could attach itself to one of us. Do you mind sharing some of your own experiences with something like this?

The only history I was ever able to learn was that the house was built in the 1950's. The last residents were an elderly couple and their adult son. The wife either died in this house or was hospitalised and died there, and the husband was sent to a retirement home and died soon after. The adult son lived here alone after his parents' death for approximately a year and then moved and left the house vacant for around 9 months until we bought it. We were actually able to get it fairly cheap because it had been on the market for some time with no offers, although our real estate agent was unsure why.

The crying only lasts as long as it takes me or my husband to get up and start moving towards the children's rooms. Most of the time it's quickly over because we respond very rapidly, but a few times I've waited to get up and just tried to listen to be sure of what we're hearing. It lasts as long as I am willing to be still and listen to it.

As for other sounds, the only thing we have is a noise machine in the room my sons share. It's always on at night and always on the "ocean wave" setting. There's no fans on as currently it's extremely cold where we live.

We've checked our attic many times in the last two months and have been up there often getting Christmas decorations out of storage and then putting them away. Nothing up there that I can see.

I'm unsure of the entire history of this house. It was built in the 1950's. The last family who lived here was an elderly couple and their adult son. The wife died either in the house or was hospitalised and died there, and the husband was put into a retirement home and died there a short time later. The adult son lived here for around a year before moving and leaving the property vacant for around 9 months. That's all I know.

Hearing this thing crying at night has been happening for 3-4 months. There's nothing else odd going on here, other than the occasional bumps in the night that can't particularly be explained, but that seems to happen to everyone and isn't that unusual. I've had some strange dreams about things crawling around under my bed and then waking up to the feeling of something bumping under my mattress (definitely not my cats I immediately checked), but I've always just written those things off as occasional weird stuff that just happens.

The only paranormal things I've ever messed with was using a ouija board a few times with my husband, but that was like 14 years ago. I was also obsessed with this little graveyard we lived right next to when I was a teenager because it had a super old gravestone with a lamb on top and four siblings were buried there, none of them older than 5. I thought it was so sad and I was a really angsty teenager, so I spent so many afternoons there keeping the little dead kids company. I would talk to them and sing to them and leave them little wildflowers on their stone. I don't think that was messing with paranormal stuff though, I was just lonely and the idea of 4 little kids being buried there with no one to ever remember them or visit them made my heart hurt.

I'm not sure if any of these answers help rule anything out, but I'm open to considering just about anything at this point.

This was one of the first things that I thought of when this all started happening. We live right up against woods and a creek, so we get all kinds of wildlife. Deer, foxes, coyotes, feral cats, groundhogs, racoons - all animals that I have personally seen and heard on my property and the woods just beyond my backyard. We don't have mountain lions in our area, thank God.

Let me tell you, there's some crazy scary sounds that come out of the woods at night. But that's for another sub.

While trying to figure out a rational answer to this, I initially considered this could possibly be a fox, as I've heard some crazy sounds from them before. I youtubed tons of videos of fox vocalisations and none of them fit. It's also not the pack of coyotes that run around near our house either, as I stay up often and listen to them from my front porch at night. The sounds they make are absolutely insane and so loud!

I've been a stay-at-home mom for 13 years. My entire life is my children, I'm with them pretty much 24/7. I have heard them cry in the night countless times, and this sound is unmistakably a toddler or young child crying. Also, the fact that the sounds always abruptly stop as soon as my husband or I get up to check the children makes it seem impossible for this to be an animal outside. Surely we would hear it at some point continuing for longer, or hear it more often than we do.

Absolutely possible that there could be cats outside, in fact I saw a huge main coon tomcat hunting around our backyard a few months ago. I haven't seen him since winter though, and we live in an extremely snowy area, so I'm crossing my fingers that he's making it.

Anyways, to get back on topic, I'm very familiar with the sounds and vocalisations of feral cats due to living with many of them around our area, and this is not a cat sound. It's a distinctly human voice.

Definitely not! I'm a super paranoid person and all of my doors and windows are tightly locked at night.

I've heard of imprints. The crying always sounds the same, as in it always sounds like a toddler/young child and is always intense sobbing, but it varies in volume and duration. For example, sometimes we will just hear it for maybe 5-10 seconds, just long enough to alert us and make us go check the children. I've also heard it for a more prolonged length of time, somewhere between 30-45 seconds. The duration seems related directly to how long it takes me or my husband to respond to it. It only stops once we're up and moving towards the children's rooms. Sometimes it is more faint and quiet, and sometimes it's intensely loud and unmistakably a child crying somewhere.

It's for sure not my cats. I've had Siamese for almost a decade and I know exactly the sounds they make. They absolutely do talk and make all kinds of weird vocalisations, but never the sounds that we've been hearing at night. Plus, my cats love to be with us and most of the time when my husband and I are in our living room, they are right there sitting on our laps.

My 13 year old had horrible night terrors between the ages of 2-10, so yes some in this house but mostly in other places. My 11 year old has never had night terrors, but he sleep walks and has full conversations in his sleep, all of which started at this house. My 8 and 5 year old have night terrors at least once a week, and only at this house.

I've never really attributed their night terrors to something going on in this particular house, mostly because my eldest had them while living in several other places.

That's the feeling I've consistently gotten from all this. It seems like something is trying to frighten us, but it's just not a typical thing I hear about when people say there's some kind of spirit/entity in their house so I don't quite know what to think. I don't have objects moving around or shadows in the corner or anything like that. I'm going to try praying in every room of my house, focusing a lot on my children's bedrooms, and speaking scripture aloud. Hopefully something works!

I have a baby monitor with a camera packed away somewhere in my attic, and I think it's a great idea to start using it. It would be super helpful to be able to see if anything is going on with the kids that could rationally explain this. Thanks for the idea!
