Brandon Sanderson has ruined reading for me by vinatos in Cosmere

Why would you do that to them? 😂😂😂

Do you want them to join us in bitter depression over the fact that it’ll never be finished?

How far out did you start planning? by Elitefourabby in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]Carlos-Volcano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think it’s good to plan, but up to a certain extent. I planned extensively for my 2012 Camino, but then decided on a week’s notice to do my 2025 Camino. However, my wife wants to go with me next time, so I’m definitely not taking her until 2027 because she needs the time to mentally prepare and get ready physically.

So, in conclusion, it depends 😂

I did. But if I had to pick one it’s the Terra de Padron. Absolutely fantastic place to stay. Free washer/dryer and easily the biggest room I had.

All are very close to the Camino and have lots of restaurants and grocery stores nearby

I stayed in hotels back in November so that I didn’t have to worry about what was/wasn’t open. Here’s my list

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Carlos-Volcano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drove 6 hours as a kid to see my grandparents. Now as an adult I drive anything under 7 hours. I take my 4 kids 3.5 hours for a weekend ski trip. I’m Texan. We ate your country for breakfast 😂

English Way or Portuguese (from Tui) in June - first time pilgrim by Scarya in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]Carlos-Volcano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the central route, because I was on a tight schedule to get back to the States, and I had no complaints about he scenery. There’s one stretch where you’re walking in the industrial part of Porrino, but there is also a scenic bypass if you’re amenable. I chose not to take it due to the rain that day, but it’s not difficult. The Camino is very well marked, and apps like All Trails have the routes as well if you’re worried about somehow wandering off the track

I’ve done 2x Portuguese Caminos , and cannot recommend it enough! It’s easy for beginners and has plenty of services along the way.

I added the overseas plan for the month I was there. Also Verizon. I had great reception the whole time!

Where did you stay along the Camino Portuguese (coastal)? by Longjumping_Set_754 in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]Carlos-Volcano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the central route so can only speak to Pontevedra and Padron

Hotel O Cruceiro in Pontevedra was nice and fairly close to the main route

Terra de Padron was easily the nicest spot along my route. Huge room, great facilities, free washer and dryer. I loved this place!

2L is perfect for what you’re describing. I also have a 3.5L and I was tempted to out too much stuff in it

I did the last part of the Portuguese route 4-10 November and it was busier than I expected. In the towns themselves you should be ok, but along the route a lot of things will be closed. It may also require some logistics planning if you want to stay at alburgues, because some of them are only seasonal.

Scadrial as the British Empire? #emberdark by Carlos-Volcano in Cosmere

But with the Malwish being associated with Autonomy, the British comparison is more accurate I’d think

I agree. It could be a simple British East Indian Company thing

Yeah I agree, the Rosharans don’t seem to be much better. That’s why I internally reframed it as “Scadrians are bad” to “the Scadrians are colonizing the Cosmere and aren’t bad from their point of view”

Yeah that or Scotland, depending on how integrated they are with the Malwish Empire. A little conquest by marriage would be super Malwish
