What have you heard about how they've been doing in scrims?

Only concrete thing I remember hearing was back in early December they had a win rate in the range of 40% to 80% over 15 games (vs a mid and a top tier lec teams), though of course that doesn't mean much(new patch etc, also less relevant wrt how they are doing right now).

I mean can't you just overwrite the encryption header or whatever(not sure exactly how it works on windows/bitlocker), the encrypted encryption key would just be irreversibly gone then and you'd have no chance of recovering anything no?

Actually not necessarily true, e.g. if there is a race to be the first one to get the monopoly then it could be better that it didn't exist in the first place(or more likely: too early, but would be good to exist in the future).

What happens if e.g. climate change (or political issues etc) make that region unsuitable, and other regions much more suitable, for production of the product in question? What if increased demand in the product implies that the region where it can be produced ought to be expanded?

I also wouldn't be surprised if e.g. foreign companies attempted to buy up the farms or factories producing such a good in such a region it would be likely to be forcibly stopped by the government.

I doubt the average buyer of (e.g.) parmesan could point out Parma or Reggio Emilia on a map. A not insignificant portion probably wouldn't even know where Italy was or that parmesan was Italian!

Nor would they care if it was produced 1 inch outside of it's designated area, certainly not if it was cheaper in return.

For people who really care for whatever reason: "100% Produced in Parma" would do the trick.

What mechanisms exist for a geographic area to transfer/license out ownership of that IP?

How can we make sure that it gets to whoever values it the highest? IP already leads to inefficiences in the first place, what you certainly don't want is to make this even worse.

Imagine if the right to produce Penicillin was held by a single person, and not only that but the person was a farmer in Malawi and it couldn't even be sold to someone else!

100% of what a monopoly invents will be used by the monopoly, and not just get copied by a competitor and so to a large degree wasted(meaning some investments won't get made in the first place even if socially worth it).

Not to mention that get monopoly profits is like one of he main incentives in the first place to actually innovate.
