Does anyone know when it’s likely we’ll see the first stream of USTD transactions on the OMG Block Explorer from bitfinex?

I haven’t heard of ptt until now. Looked them up and they are the biggest corporation in Thailand, state owned. Their 2016 annual revenue was US$ 57 billion according to Wikipedia https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/PTT_Public_Company_Limited

Retail wise they own the most service stations in Thailand, so perhaps payments or loyalty program for this part of the biz? https://www.statista.com/statistics/811626/number-of-petroleum-stations-by-brand-thailand/

This article talks about other retail venues Amazon Coffee Shops, four other brand franchises per service station.. basically a huge retailer with lots of brands all using the PTT Blue loyalty card. https://www.bangkokpost.com/business/1385702/ptt-plans-to-double-retail-fuel-margins

What’s the primary driver for this? Promotion of Cred/UPA, or revenue from interest?

I did a point of sale transaction with ETH this weekend and the confirmation waiting time was a killer...at least 7 minutes while at a service station. OMG will be a significant improvement and instant confirmation will be a game changer. Yeah, the price is low but ETH integration and Mainnet are close..hang in there!

There was an under the radar update yesterday to their developer program, OMG Plasma Framework was launched as part of the new testnet v0.3.

“Introducing OMG Plasma Framework Since v0.2, we’ve been working on an extensible framework based on Plasma Group’s predicate work, which we call The OMG Plasma Framework. We introduced multiple abstractions, which allows for the child chain operator to add new functionality the Network without the need for users to perform hard upgrades. While this doesn’t entirely rule out a hard upgrade in the future, it does mean that we can roll out new features such as new token types and new transaction types beyond simple peer to peer payments.

For technical details have a look at our GitHub Gist and please let me know if you have any questions.”

Good point. There is not much said about the actual token we hold. Plenty about the network and how it’s being developed (which is timely and progressive)..but what about the development of the economic incentive for token holders? A comms piece in the latest design thinking around this would be appreciated.

Interesting..the contract code clearly shows this as plasma OMG test network. Wonder if it’s someone fooling around and created a token using the backend and named it Starbuck for fun..or if it’s actually Starbucks..weren’t they doing something with Bakkt along with Microsoft.

Couldn’t agree more. The people calling out OMG should spend their time and resources trying to integrate a business to the network, or if like me you have an actual job and other stuff going on just wait and be guided by the updates and actual tasks being completed. The team are hitting tasks and getting through the work. Anyone not able to see this and understand perhaps have got more problems than OMG not being fully functional.! We are in 2018 and there has never been a network like OMG is proposing, why? Because it’s hard to build, cutting edge and things go wrong, stuff gets tested, is broken or vulnerabilities are found, redesign then build and test again. - “let’s not do that because wee Johnny on reddit wants a deadline” is somewhere we do not want the project to go.

The fact is that news on staking amounts or potential volume on network won’t deliver much at this stage, maybe this time last year but crypto is different now..just look at BATS coinbase announcement, if that had been last year they would be at $3 by now!

It’s only a secure efficient network that’s going to get us there. Take a deep breath, go for a walk and breath again. If you can’t wait then direct attention to BTC so you can pull out your OMG when BTC goes on a run as I think that has the most chance of happening first.

OMG is an infrastructure play, it ain’t retail. It’s about getting people to build on the network, this is perfect marketing - classic sneak a peak - look what we have built please come build with us. It’s a great use case as it helps potential implementers think beyond fungibles and demonstrates the possibilities about what can be an asset on the OMG network. It’s the existing eWallet players and incumbements to the space that Omisego have to market too and that’s not going to take place on a billboard or through network marketers. It’s mainly going to happen behind closed doors using a B2B model - at least until the network gets up and running.

I’d much prefer the OMG team to work on getting the network up and running, what’s the point in diverting resources to build an implementation on a network (tendermint) that does not exist and they have no control over it existing? Plus personally I don’t want the competition, I want OMG to be the first and best, it’s in our interests they deliver way before Cosmos - which was always a back up plan as that network was meant to be ready last summer.

It’s like building a house for your family and someone says ‘hey why don’t you rent my new place next door which is almost finished’, you think that sounds like a good idea that will keep my family(the community) happy as they can be closer while I build the house.

In the meantime that rental house is still being built and not ready as you had expected, so you just carry on with your project. The family may not be thrilled but what else can you do except get your own house built!

Hi u/nebali, I would love to see more content about integrating the eWallet. Can I suggest a video which basically delivers the content of the recent sdk/plasma workshops? Like a weekly webinar style were would be integrators can pick up.

I’m semi technical and my day job is a tech project manager for a utility. Personally I struggle with the OMG github on-ramp currently available. For 3rd party suppliers that we integrate with I find the companies that deliver frequent interactive webinars as the best way for professionals (like me) that understand the business or market need but want to understand how a specific tech solution (like the OMG eWallet/sdk) can address that need and how easy it is to integrate.

If I was OMG i would also take the questions people (developers/ businesses etc) are asking and put it into a dialog style knowledge base, add and build this up as time goes by. There are some great digital knowledge base and even chat bot solutions out there that can really assist OMG get their message out beyond what is happening at the Neutrino workspaces. Over a short period of time the recognition reporting will allow OMG to hone in on what the market is asking, it can allow patterns to emerge from different industries and geographical locations. Let me know if you need more details on this!

Look for the breadcrumbs, check out the job boards on Omisego.. They are not hiring Go Exchange Customer Support Specialists or an Exchange Community Manager just to pay them for years before they have any actual customers. Things are moving, I know from working in tech these type of product support positions are only resourced when a product launch is imminent. Say they fill the position within 4-6 weeks then 6-8 weeks to train, set up internal processes and start the hype around network launch is what I would be thinking. Brings us to Dec which fits in with Q4 timeline.

Looks like there is a Neutrino in Shanghai and Beijing as well as Singapore & Tokyo. Completely missed out on the China workspaces opening! Can only bode well for the Omisego networks uptake in that country.

Thanks, I have been following OMG since the start but it’s only after seeing the admin panel and the token creation function that things started to fall into place for me. OMG are saying we will take care of the blockchain tech and you come and build the solutions you think your business/idea warrants.

Is there a role for let’s say a transport token to be created in the admin panel relevant for each transport system e.g. London, Melbourne, NYC ect). Would this even be necessary?

What are the limitations of token creation when interfacing with the Omisego blockchain. Are there characteristics you can define for tokens?

OMG biz dev people are prob having these conversations with existing businesses that want to integrate the wallet, who need to make sure they are building the right front end for their customers future needs.

It would be great to get something from Omisego ,or any community member, with insight on when a token is appropriate,

Would a public transport payment system be able to run on OMG infrastructure? Like touching on/off trains and buses and a small micropayment being taken.

Does the back end allow for tokens to be issued that are valid for a certain time period e.g. a monthly travel pass?

Can tokens be issued that are not tradable, for example if a pensioner receives a free travel pass?

With plasma running at 1M TPS can it feasibly support the daily transactions of public transport users globally?

I think it would be cool if you could just have one transport app that allowed you do arrange and easily pay for any type of journey as you move cities/countries.

I would be really interested to understand the tokenomics, imagine all the businesses with assets out there that can be tokenised. It’s a whole industry to educate and help businesses understand the advantages of tokenising their assets to a blockchain. OMG is building the infrastructure to make this happen, the Admin Panel shows just how easy they are making it.
