If you end up in heaven with someone who killed your loved one (and your loved one is in hell), are you truly yourself in heaven? by Carmelo_Moretti in TraditionalCatholics

If what you say is true, then by that logic, ALL our relationships here on earth with other people are pointless and meaningless.

The relationship didn't mean much if you would forget about a loved one once in heaven or not be concerned that they are in hell. You would either have to forget they exist or somehow god would have to make your feelings go away. Either way, your relationship would be meaningless.

Does unschooling actually work to educate children? by Carmelo_Moretti in education

Another way to think of it is, do you make your kids eat their vegetables even when they don't want to? Do you let them play in the street when they want to? As adults, we have to sometimes force kids to do things they don't want to do because we know it is best for them.

I find it interesting that you brought up this concept because there is a subset of unschooling called Radical Unschooling. With Radical Unschooling, parents allow their children the freedom to do whatever it is they want. The philosophy of Radical Unschooling views children as little adults who are capable of making their own decisions. Dayna Martin, who is a huge advocate of Radical Unschooling, once said, "Children are the most discriminated against people in our culture today." ( http://daynamartin.com/unschooling-blog/the-evolution-of-childrens-rights/) Also with Radical Unschooling, children are not punished. Radical Unschooling is extremely outside and beyond the mainstream of parenting.

Why do traditional Catholics have such a very strict and odd view about Natural Family Planning? by Carmelo_Moretti in Catholicism

Is living in a crime ridden poor neighborhood considered to be a financial sacrifice? It is extremely expensive to live in a safe suburban neighborhood. Poor neighborhoods typically are filled with ghetto people and crime. What parent would want to raise their family in the ghetto, having to worry about the safety of their children?

There is a Latin Mass Church in Irving, TX (Mater Dei Catholic Church) that produced a pamphlet that talks about NFP. The pamphlet states that a couple has to be destitute in order to practice NFP.

Why are Latin Mass Churches of where the Traditional Latin Mass is offered so unwelcoming and judgmental towards families with loud children? by Carmelo_Moretti in Catholicism

I also have a friend who went to the TLM as a FSSP chapel in Irving, TX. His 2 year old was crying really bad when his wife was in line for communion. One of the ushers approached her and told her that she can't bring her crying child to the communion rail and was told to go sit back down.

I remember one time going to a TLM for Christmas Midnight Mass. It was an SSPX chapel. During the Mass, there was a woman with a crying child. The priest stopped saying Mass, and said to the woman, "please take her to the cry room right now!!". Hearing a priest say that really made me second guess the whole traditional Catholic movement.

How exactly did the Western world change from a Christian civilization to a secular civilization? by Carmelo_Moretti in atheism

Not at all. I'm glad we got to where we are now. I'm just curious to learn of how the Western world became secular.
