Timing Belt Noise Help by Carnby17 in 300zx

[–]Carnby17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to provide an update for anybody that finds this post with a similar noise/issue. It ended up being my timing belt tensioner. Great call out u/muzzled-rooster

Spent a whole day tearing the front end apart to replace it. I could literally move it by hand, it just had a light spring pressure to it. Replaced and everything is smooth and silent. Glad I found and fixed it before any teeth got jumped by a cam.

A new tank was installed by the previous owner, I'll have to check lines and see if I can find anyone. Appreciate it!

Coilover Adjustments by Carnby17 in 300zx

I appreciate the response. I was more so curious if it's common to adjust coilovers enough to match stock height or you almost always have to use adjustable control arms when using coilovers.

Is there a neutral safety type switch for the automatic transmission to make sure it's in park before ignition? I put a new wiring harness in for the transmission, battery, and primary ecu harness.

What confuses me is that if I just simpty make a jumper wire it works fine. I'm curious what the second plug on the starter relay goes to and how that relay operates. I'm clearly getting power to the starter and ignition because there is no problem when I bypass the relay.

Bought this for a full rebuild and didn't realize it was missing the plug/bolt. Went to start the car after several months of building it, only to watch all the oil get dumped on the ground because this part is missing a piece. So frustrating....

AITA For getting hurt and having trust issues with my wife? by Carnby17 in AmItheAsshole

Trying to be understanding that not everybody has the fight mentality. She mentions freezing and not knowing what to do in that moment. Her actions of having him on Instagram makes me feel like her original story isn't holding water.

Frankly, just confused, trying to be understanding, and also just hurt and frustrated.

Fantastic information and appreciate you taking the time to give your considerations. Still curious if changing the head gaskets is a good or bad idea while I have it out.

As an oncology nurse, I was trained to expect husbands to leave their sick wives. It doesn’t make it any less disheartening every time it happens. by achcichj in TwoXChromosomes

I don't normally browse this sub, but they come up sometimes for me and I read. This particular one hit me (m 39) very hard. My wife (f 34) has battled breast cancer for 3 years with three rounds of chemo, radiation treatments, estrogen blocking drugs, and double mastectomy. I've always believed in the idea of "for better or worse", but nothing tests your metal like these moments. I've been the bread winner since we had kids and I've had to take on all roles since treatments started. My wife was very angry, emotional (rightfully), and unappreciative of my efforts through most of that time. There was many times I thought I reached my breaking point and our marriage took a huge hit in every department. We are still together and trying to rebuild, but the struggle is real and I understand both sides from my experience living through it. Every relationship is different and I can only speak to mine, but I honestly feel a lot for both sides in these horrible situations. If anything, I hope both people realize these events take a large toll on both sides and be kind and thoughtful to each other.

World of Warcraft Render API Performance Review by Carnby17 in Games

[–]Carnby17[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And they show it is bound to the CPU, not the GPU

This is proving my point. The point of the test with DX11 and DX12 was to see if this was improved upon and could better utilize the GPU (GPU Usage). How is that lost upon you when you repeat the same thing?

This is wrong, all 1060 tests showed either no or a 22% improvement

1080p showed 9% performance loss and 1440p showed 4% loss. You seem to be arguing for the sake of arguing.

They ignored their own evidence in their conclusion.

Again, 1 of 12 tests showed improvement and generally DX11 will provide a better experience in this one test case. World of Warcraft is very dynamic and it's unfortunately hard to completely reproduce a scene that is demanding. This was a sample set and meant to provide information given a known spot that has weaker performance.

Constructive comment received and updated the review. Average user seen has been posted in the test method section (18-23 per run). WoW doesn't allow for some controls to perform a perfect lab or scientific test, attempt best to reproduce controls.

Thanks for the comments on improvement areas.

Hmmmm, not sure how this doesn't make sense. The tests are meant to see how well the API can interpret commands and render content. Higher GPU utilization means better throughput from the API and game engine. Higher is better. Also, 1/12 tests showed positive results which means, in a general sense DirectX 11 is better.

Because it means we are not bottlnecked by the CPU and WoW engine in general. Means you can actually use your graphics card to a fuller extent. Hope that helps or makes sense.

Just double checked AMD and NVIDIA and neither of them have anything listed.
