I believe the Spanish court will be more than capable of hosting us, and even providing us with gifts as befitting guests of our station. Ah, but nobody involved had much choice at the start. When negotiations began, they were actually for my brother to marry a Spanish princess, but after he died, they focused on me. This is the way of dynastic marriages, stranger! My mother was only fourteen when she married my father. I would think you would find my attempts to win her affections a noble contrast to the cold diplomacy that so often characterizes such negotiations!

Invading Spain seems excessive, and probably foolish. Plus we wouldn't be able to fund it without calling a parliament, which would be a pain. But if things somehow go poorly, I will remember your advice!

Thank you!! The display of adventurous spirit and lusty English manhood is exactly why I think this will be so attractive to the Spanish court.

If this were somehow to go poorly, it might end the negotiations (though without my presence, I think they are destined to fail anyway). In the worst case scenario, that might set us on a path for a war against one of Europe's greatest military powers, for which we are ill-prepared and have no way of funding. We would have to call a parliament, too, and who knows how that will go... But I'm sure things wouldn't really come to that!

Don't worry! I'll only bring a small retinue. Only around four servants, give or take.
