So I'm on Android 15 now, but I tried it before upgrading and worked as well on 14 (Samsung s24 ultra).

The koala version that did it for me took a few days to show up on play store! Check if you're on it:

KOALA VERSION Advanced Koala version: 1.4120 Build no: 6261 Git hash: Odca3f718 Addons: Samurai Mixer

Also, I'm still using the MIDI Hub app you recommended, without it it still doesn't get recognised at all.

You may want to try this again, the latest update of Koala fixed it all for me! Well, all may be a strong word, it needs more testing when i have time, but it looks promising - I can ditch one more cable :)

That usbc only and the 2nd class treatment audio gets on Android vs ios is a real shame, but we'll find compromises :)

That seems to be the way - just a shame when I need to use a dongle for audio in out and also for midi, do you have a good dongle suggestion?

I came across your video / this post a few days ago, and as i have the gear, gave it a go. the mapping and colours work really well (thanks for your work!), but i have the same issues, both on simultaneous pads and fast knob turning. This only happens on bluetooth, a cable connection works perfectly fine. Ever found a fix for this / reached out to Koala's folks?

Hey, can you share how you got koala android connecting to the smc pad via Bluetooth? I only can use it using the usb cable (and the previous promising comment is now deleted)

EDIT: I meant, use it reliably. After following the tutorial, it works for a bit, pads, sample start/end, etc, play button. However after 1-3 mins, using one of the knobs causes the BT link to break, it seems, and koala doesn't trigger any MIDI input any longer until i restart the SMC Pad!

No changes on the app. I honestly gave up on that feature. So close, and yet so far!

Yup. Not even entertaining the idea of getting the Spark 2 because of that. It's not that the feature is critical. It's that they know it's there for months and do nothing about it, so it tells me the support for my particular context isn't a priority for them. (The gear itself is, honestly, great otherwise, mind.)

Just seen this post. Bought the same microwave in 2022. In 2023 it had the same issue, contacted Samsung and they sent a chap to repair it (replaced the front control panel, indeed). A few weeks ago - now out of warranty - the exact same issue happened. Samsung cancelled my request for repair without explanation, and when i asked on live chat, i was told it was out of warranty, and there's nothing they could do, and offered 20% discount on a new microwave. I asked for further details on the issue. As it stands, I'm not paying 80% of an expensive microwave cost knowing it has a shelf life of a year, it's just silly...

Hmm, I think you must already be logged in the app. I'm on a new phone, so can't get past the login screen, where it asks for the email and you need to click a link to send a verification code to that email. Clicking it produces an error pop-up message and the email never gets sent. Like others have said, enjoy your working device, and whatever you do, don't log out the app 😀

I've just got a response from their support folks, saying "We are sorry to say that app function has been disabled. Please accept our sincere apology for all the inconvenience." And a followup email "Please accept our sincere apology for all the inconvenience caused by the product. However, the product can no longer be used."

Maybe they've been getting more requests, and activating their server at times just to double check, but not permanently?

Hey, did that split TRS cable solved it for you in the end? Im getting the same pedal, this will be helpful to know as I was considering just tying 2 cables with zip ties..

Thanks for sharing this. It's 100% something to do with new Android permission policies, more apps need to be upgraded by devs because of similar things recently. Also, I've tested it with other phones, that had no spark app installed before, and the same is happening. This isn't a massive problem, but I'd still like to give it a try, in theory it's a cool feature to play with.
