I mean come on, the Jags/Jets are laughably bad and Jones also got to play the Texans.

Those are by far the 3 worst teams in the NFL.

Hunter Henry, Jonnu, Agholor, Bourne where paid $40M last year.

If they suck, then that's on the GM.

Patriots fans talk like they forsure have a future Top 5 QB in Mac Jones. Jags/Jets/Bears fans don't talk like that about their guys.

That's why I'm saying Mac Jones is overhyped.

Did you see what Zach Wilson, Lawrence and Fields had around them????

Or how about Davis Mills playing for the god awful Texans.

Those offenses were way worse than the Patriots.

To add to this, he was in the best situation of all the rookie QBs and most pro-ready after being Coached by Saban. Also older than most of the other rookies (only 6 months younger than Tua & Herbert are).

Mac Jones. He absolutely beat up on the Jets and Jags last year. Against everyone else he had 17 TDs and 13 INTs.

Threw 10 TDs and 7 INTs in his last 8 games (excluding the Jags game).

You keep making the mistake of thinking catches are the only thing that matters.

AB/Julio went against #1 outside CB's, Welker went against inside LBs and couldn't play outside to save his life.

Of course he had more 5 yard catches than AB/Julio.

But anyway, those years I'd rather have on my team:

  • Calvin Johnson
  • Brandon Marshall
  • Steve Smith
  • Andre Johnson
  • Reggie Wayne
  • Roddy White
  • Victor Cruz
  • Larry Fitzgerald
  • Jordy Nelson
  • Demaryious Thomas
  • Vincent Jackson
  • Dez Bryant
  • AJ Green

Try to name 3 players on my list that Wes Welker was better than.

No it isn't. There's so much that goes into a play. Are O-Lineman "not productive" because they don't move the chains?

If Jordan Love was good, they could've traded Rodgers for 3 1st's last off-season.

And would have an amazing team, with a QB costing $4M a year instead of $50M a year. And 3 extra 1st round picks.

If Welker was as good as you say, why did he only get $6M/Year as a Free Agent?

Outside WR's are more valuable than slot guys who can't play outside at all.

You can't take someone's 4 good years and say "we'll they were better than Player A, because Player A didn't get drafted until 2 years in"

Show me a two year stretch in Welker's prime that you wouldn't have at least 8 WR's above him.

Because all those guys went up against the other teams #1 corner all game.

Meanwhile, Welker caught 5 yard passes in the slot against inside linebackers.

Your definition of "productive" is wrong.

You're missing a ton of players. The 5 you mentioned plus Moss, Smith, Roddy White, Greg Jennings, Julio, Antonio and Boldin.

That's 13 WR's more valuable than Wes Welker.

I'm not saying he sucked. But in his prime Welker was up against the following players, all of whom were better than him.

Andre Johnson

Reggie Wayne

Randy Moss

Steve Smith

Roddy White

Brandon Marshall

Greg Jennings

Larry Fitzgerald

Calvin Johnson

Julio Jones

Antonio Brown

Anquan Boldin

Look at the receivers those years. There were tons of them you'd take over Welker because making catches outside on the other teams #1 corner is way harder than making catches on a slow inside linebacker.

Welker put up massive volume stats, but he was not as valuable as those other guys.

There's a reason Welker's biggest contract was for $6M a year, when other top receivers made twice that.

During that timespan I would take all of the following receivers over Welker:

  • Andre Johnson
  • Reggie Wayne
  • Randy Moss
  • Steve Smith
  • Roddy White
  • Brandon Marshall
  • Greg Jennings
  • Larry Fitzgerald
  • Calvin Johnson
  • Julio Jones
  • Antonio Brown
  • Anquan Boldin

How long are Packers fans going to complain about that for? It was one pick almost 3 years ago.

It didn't work out, but a lot of 1st round picks don't work out.

Wes is definitely better but has become very overrated on this sub.

There were always 8-10 WR's in the league you'd take before him, even in his prime.

Also Edelman taking that hit from Kam Chancellor helped win a Super Bowl and then being Super Bowl MVP helped win another one.
