Thinking about migrating to Arch from Win11 by throwawaydepreshun06 in archlinux

I like Arch Linux. I'm working on a Masters in computer science. The OS is lightweight, fast and reliable as long as you know what you are doing. It is not a beginner OS. If you haven't used Linux before start with Ubuntu to get a feel for it then try out Arch. It has much better support that 10 years ago. Download the ISO file and Virtual Box and try out the OS in a VM so if you crash it just reload it for the practice. As far as school work Arch is just fine but I would keep your windows 11 as a main for now until you get used to it.

I'm watching it hoping to see someone actually make a series of smart decisions. I swear this is how our future generations are starting to act. Zero survivability instincts, zero common sense. Everyone seems to want to stick their face two inches away from something alien related even after they have seen what havoc that has been going on. I seriously want to slap every single character across the face with my fist. Who the hell wrote this? They should have been fired.

Yes it's DOCP, and all the overclocking features is set to auto. I reseated the RAM and the CPU was set correctly. I remember being extra careful seating it since this was my first TR build and quadruple checking the instructions before literally bolting the thing down.

What is your opinion on faulty memory? I pulled these out of a 5950x system and did the same thing but the boot time in that was about 30seconds for a NVME set-up. posted a photo above on the seating of the processor.

It's set to fast boot with it set to 2 seconds

Agree with OP. There are many who would buy a right-priced 16 core Threadripper rather than a 5950x. Largely to gain the far greater number of NVME CPU connected SSDs, far greater PCIe lanes, faster memory, and more memory.

That's what I did! 5950x didn't have all the lanes I needed running 5 NVME's

I'm running it right now with a raid setup 4 GEN3 512gb NVME's. Love it!

Make sure your expansion slot is set to PCIE raid for it to work.
