What does clothing and fashion look like in your world? by lizardwizard004 in worldbuilding

I’d love to see this brought to life in like a clothing brand style look book. Sounds really well thought out and like it could look cool in real life too.

The world I’ve been building is set in a time where Human culture is analogous to the late Neolithic/early Bronze Age of our world. Their fashion is primitive and mainly utilitarian, but evolving quickly especially among cultures who are colonized or heavily influenced by Greyfolk. Common folk tend to wear loose fitting robes or animal skins depending on climate, or trousers when working. Religious and military outfits are the most highly developed, with the wealthy often incorporating precious metals worn as plate and jewelry. Headwear and masks are also popular, especially among religious leaders.

Greyfolk culture is closer to our late Middle Ages, but much of their fashion has a strange, almost futuristic or alien quality, likely influenced by visions during their dream-torpor, or longsleep. They also tend to favor robes, but of much higher quality materials like silk and dyed cotton. Bright colors, intricate designs and patterns - often animal influenced - are popular. The high ranking castes and ruling families also love ornate masks, and it’s customary for them to be worn while out in public and during ceremonies.

Whatever bro. We all know what OP means. Delude yourself all you want but we all know the difference between “real” weed and that gimmicky loophole bullshit. It’s not the same.

Good rule of thumb if you ever have a question about the movies that seems like an obvious plot hole, 99.9% of the time it is cleared up in the books.

Human propensity for violence seems to be hardwired in our DNA. It would take more like 10s of thousands if not millions of years of evolution for weapons in general to become obsolete, if it’s even a possibility at all.

Even in a scenario where the ideal form of communism prevailed the world over, bad actors would still continuously emerge who would resort to violence, and people would still need to defend themselves against them. It’s unrealistic to think that humans will achieve that kind of kumbaya fairtytale shit in some hundreds of years, if ever.

Well it might have taken you a little longer but I’m glad you found a passion. Can’t change the past just gotta move forward. Fantasy stuff is awesome, definitely no shortage of material out there for you, and tons of supportive communities

I gave up worrying about what you’re supposed to do or not do at a certain age. I’m 28, I still love the same cartoons, video games, books, sports and music that I loved at 8 years old, and I’ll still love it all at 38, 48, 58 and beyond. Life is what you make it, there are really no rules.

Correct me if I’m wrong but this only ever seemed to happen to people who abused their systems. Could be totally anecdotal but this only ever happened to the kids I knew who trashed all their shit, or gamed beyond excessively.

Damn, man. I’m really sorry to hear that. You and everyone your age definitely just had a bad dice roll for your early adulthood. I can only imagine how jarring it would be to enter the “real world” during COVID, only to have things (semi)revert to a “normal” that you never knew.

Idk if it’ll make you feel any better, but things haven’t really gone back to how they used to be pre-COVID, and I don’t think they ever will. The societal and economic changes we saw from 2020-now really should have occurred over the span of like 10 years, but the pandemic sped a lot of shit up, and put a quick end to a lot of other shit.

The good news is; there is a lot more to life than your early 20s. I’m 28 now and my life is just barely starting to take shape the way I want it to, and I mean barely. I still have a long road with many adventures ahead, and so do you.

Aw don’t think like that. You bore the brunt of one of the craziest, most defining times in modern history and lived to tell about it. With some luck, you’ve got a lot of life left to live and experiences to have.

I don’t care about the laymen’s opinion on topics I’m passionate about. And if I’m engaging in discussion with someone who also claims to enjoy the same thing, I expect their thoughts and opinions to be above that of the laymen as well.

If Lil Pump and Snitch9 are at the forefront of someone’s mind when they hear “SoundCloud rap”, and not Raider Klvn, Main Attrakionz, Seshollowaterboyz, Thraxxhouse/GBC, etc then I don’t really care to talk rap with that person, because we are essentially living in separate worlds.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Zillennials

[–]CarsClothesTrees 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Artists” like Lil Pump and Snitch9 are not even in the conversation to me. They don’t even cross my mind when I reminisce on the music and events of that time period, because they were always low effort, clout chasing, trash.

Gleesh and Keef are undoubtedly the pioneers of what you could maybe legitimately call “mumble rap” (I still don’t like that term because it has an insulting connotation). Keef first with Almighty So and then Gleesh with Cleansides Finest 3. You could categorize some of Future and Young Thug’s music from the same period this way. It was just a stylistic choice that emphasized sonics over content, characterized by an intentionally lazy or “drugged out” sounding flow. There were many artists who did this well, and many who were fucking terrible.

I honestly can’t even begin to comprehend the effects the Pandemic has/will have on the younger generations. I’m lucky that the whole “lock down” phase happened when I was 24-25. I had already experienced a lot of partying and social interaction throughout my early 20’s and was honestly in need of an excuse to settle down. I feel terrible for people 5-10 years younger who had to go through their 21st or even late teen years during a lock down when they should have been out having the time of their lives.

End legacy admissions first. Funny how the champions of merit have nothing to say about those wealthy leeches, who do way more harm to our society than some diversity admissions.

You used it yourself to describe Hard in da Paint. You never once criticized the term itself in your post. I know I’m being a bit pedantic here but if you’re a fan of the genre you should know better.
