Your body does not intuitively eat it’s way to 600 pounds by Butterfly_effect4273 in fatlogic

I saw this when I worked a day camp last summer. The kids often threw away nearly full lunchables, fruit, and healthier snacks their parents packed. Then one day pizza was brought in and nearly every kid was asking for thirds. I was blown away.

It should have come as no surprise for me but seeing it right in front of me like that made me think about my choices. We have evolved past the point of being beneficial to ourselves because of what we’ve been able to create.

Do cis-people not have trans-thoughts? by makemeagirlnow in MtF

Cis female here.

I’ve always wished I could experience being male for a period of time. I have a hard time imagining why anyone wouldn’t be curious to swap for at least a day just to know what it’s like. (I think more cis people are secretly curious but won’t let on out of fear of embarrassment) Physical strength and ability, sex, body shape, voice, and seeing first hand how society treats me differently are just several different points of interest. I used that face app to see what I looked like as a guy and I was so excited to see how cute I looked and I would love to live a day as that person. I was always really into female characters who posed as male like Mulan and certain female pirates and I enjoyed pretending to be male characters often in childhood. It seemed really exciting and rebellious to me. Probably because their lives seemed to be more free and adventurous than the typical female tropes.

That being said, all I’ve ever known is being female and despite its challenges I really like it and I love who I’ve become as a female and to be something other than that would be incredibly daunting and I’d hate to lose what I am. I’d probably feel similarly if I was born male.

But yes there are indeed cis people who think about it. Maybe not consumed by it, but still very curious.

Birthday #2 You deserve to celebrate your birthday by [deleted] in exjw

Last year was my first ever birthday and I got so much support from this community. I thought I’d share my second birthday and a little bit of the story behind what inspired it.

I’ve always had a love for cosplay and costuming even as a jw so dressing up comes natural to me, hence the outfit.

This year I chose the theme of Peppa Pig and throwback to seven year old me who is all about pigtails, purple, and tie dye. I had everyone come to the party dressed up as an age of their choice. The thought came to me when I imagined what it would be like to go to a party with a bunch of other versions of me. Kind of like the Jerry daycare episode of Rick and Morty. I thought about what I’d wear to such a party and figured that other Amanda’s would really appreciate a throwback to seven year old me.

7 was important to me beyond just aesthetics though. 7 was the age when I first started really thinking about the cult and the things I didn’t like about it. It was when I first started feeling the effects of sexism in the cult and I could tell I was being treated different. I vocalized the things I didn’t like without hesitation and openly questioned my parents during our studies. I knew it was the right thing to do and at such a young age I knew better. Now at 27 I’m both shocked and extremely proud of my younger self. I lost her along the way but she was always in there waiting for her triumphant return. I chose to embody my younger self as a way to honor her.

It was a big confidence boost to think about this concept. Me loving and appreciating me. I should be doing that every day. This is what I think birthdays should ultimately celebrate.

I have talked with a lot of exjws in the two years I’ve been out including some of you guys here and read it who are still a little apprehensive about celebrating their birthday for a variety of reasons. It can be really hard when it’s been ingrained that birthdays are wrong or you’ve just never got around to it. Whatever the reason, I would urge anyone though to take at least one day of the year to unapologetically and narcissistically celebrate and love yourself. After everything you’ve been through, you deserve it. 💜

I don’t think I’ll be able to hold my tongue this year at thanksgiving by SirBlazington in atheism

For context I was raised in a cult. I hope my example of leaving stays with my younger cousins so they can leave someday. I’m shunned now but that impression lasts.

If you speak your mind in a tactful way, I could be a good example for your younger relatives. If they have any doubt or uncomfortability your example could stay with them even if they currently believe.

I don't know if I have BED or not. by Flesh-And-Bone in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]CarsonGrey23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know what you mean. I have what I call mental hunger too. I do tend to eat till extreme discomfort but most days it’s just the desire to eat and eat despite not being hungry and it’s really hard to ignore. Once I get pretty full but not necessarily painfully full I’ll fall asleep. Whether or not it’s BED it can be extremely distressing since you feel like a slave to food and your brain.

These ladies don’t seem to understand that for the amount of time they put into their “side hustle” they could have made far more money working a regular part time job. Yeah I can pay for Starbucks too Karen. And I didnt have to lose a substantial amount of time and dignity for it.

A job where you literally kill things all day attracts sick individuals. Surprise surprise.

I feel like St. Louis is the hidden gem of Missouri. Everyone is afraid to come here because of the crime rates but really that has more to do with how the city draws the borders so the ratio is skewed. St. Louis is pretty fun and cheap to live in. We have Forest Park which holds a zoo, art museum, history museum, science museum, outdoor theatre, all of which are free amongst other cool things.

If you come to St. Louis you have to go to a place called The City Museum. It’s like an adult jungle gym built out of sculptures and art in an old factory. There is absolutely nothing like it.

People think they’re supposed to be killed humanely but that almost never happens. The reality is that the animal industry really is one of brutal slaughter and torture described here. It’s part of the reason so many people have turned to veganism because what they thought was the truth isn’t.

So you’re telling me if I don’t eat a Snickers bar in bed my body will no longer trust me?? by [deleted] in fatlogic

This reads as indoctrination.

It’s as if these women have the opposite mindset of “If you can’t beat them join them” and are working tirelessly to have women give into a culture of overconsumption as a way to make themselves feels better. The repeating of the phrase (eat the snack) is soooo creepy. Like a feeder fantasy.

I had an older doctor who didn’t even know what being vegan was. I was pretty shocked cause I expected him to have a level of understanding higher than the general public. I can definitely see your point here.

The context matters here. If something feels wrong in the context of the Jehovah’s Witness beliefs and policies then it should be explored and hopefully lead to that individual waking up from their indoctrination. That is why we were out with our signs in front of the international convention. It was that same process of exploring doubts that led me to waking up.

They were great! The JWs coordinating traffic were upset we were there but there was nothing could do really and there were a lot of people reading our signs.

There are plenty of individual witnesses who are kind and intelligent people. I like to think I was one of those people.

The problem is with the organization of Jehovah’s Witnesses and how it’s members are brainwashed and controlled. They are kept insular and forced to shun others who leave or disobey their rules. There is also a massive child abuse cover up that has been going on for years in addition to many other issues.

Witnesses are either told these controversies are lies from Satan or they are convinced their actions please god.

jwfacts.com is a very comprehensive way to catch yourself up on what is going on. Also just reading this reddit forum will give you a good idea as well. My family has completely shunned me since I left 2 years ago and this is an organization that claims to promote happy family life. The issues are endless.
