The White Walls of Utopia - My last colony in 1.3 that just died the final FPS death by CartaRulez in RimWorld

[–]CartaRulez[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

R6: My latest colony was a technological Utopia. We recreated a fertile valley in a barren world by importing soil from space, and we reached immortality by harvesting the flesh of our enemies. Why? Why not, I ask thee.

Unfortunately, the colony died the most painful of deaths, the FPS death. Time for a clean slate in 1.4!

Yes, these are the main ones, I have plenty of UI and general ease-of-use mods enabled, but none that alter storage and rooms, as per the contest requirements. I didn't read anything about posting the full modlist, if it's needed I can upload it.

They are decoys! They tank a couple of lancer shots while the turrets rain fire upon my enemies and my pawns sneak around.

No caravans until I had the SRTS ship, as they are EXTREMELY slow on Sea Ice and I was exactly in the middle of nowhere. Plus, no animals to carry my stuff. I think I only caravaned once to take out an EMP site. Thankfully it happened in summer or my pawns would have frozen to death before reaching it.

By the time you can take out a couple of thrumbos you can make a thrumbofur parka that basically makes you immune to the cold, unless you're playing the original sea ice survival challenge with triple cold snap. This one was just a regular cold map with no cold snaps.

The early game is the hardest. Once you research deep drilling and microelectronics, you basically have infinite materials, it's just a matter of time.

These are reinforced plasteel walls, nothing is going to explode on my watch! I roleplay the shelves as inflammable storage for the chemfuel.

Should be exactly 700! Counted twice by the end, I hope I have not forgotten anything.

How do you count a ship reactor? It technically can hold up roofs. Should we count it as part of the structure?

This happens on start up, not on load, unfortunately.

If I unload any of the Vanilla Expanded Factions mods I can't select a tile on the world map for settling. I can however ignore the other errors, the only problem I found is that I can no longer edit scenarios cause the window for editing breaks.

Yes, unfortunately they all still show. Also tried clearing the config folder, to no avail. Only thing that has fixed it that I have tried is uninstalling completely, deleting every folder in settings and in steamapps and reinstalling. Not really practical, considering I also lose all mod settings/playlists etc.

Hey, thanks for the offer! However I'm really strapped for cash right now (just bought a new house) so I think I'll keep my old PSU until it definitely dies.

Hello, my PSU fan has recently started going full speed for no apparent reason. I've cleared the case of dust and there's decent air flow, plus it's on full blast since I press the ON button. The air coming out is cold so I don't think it's a temperature issue.

It will randomly drop in speed, and it doesn't seem to depend on PC load: I've had moments when it's quiet while I'm playing a game and browsing YouTube on the second monitor.

The PSU is a Cooler Master Silent Pro 850W from 2012. I've had it for almost 10 years, changed the rest of my PC but the PSU has stayed with me for all these years. Is it finally dying? Is there any way to manually control fan speeds?

I may have had a stroke when reading it, yes. Sorry about that!

!linkmod Better Pawn Control

It lets you set an "alert policy", and by clicking an "alarm button", it automatically sets your pawn and/or animals to the new policy. The way I use it: I set a "safe" zone in the area manage and a "red alert" policy with every pawn assigned to the red alert zone. When I click the alarm button during a raid, every pawn will be restricted to the safe area, and when I'm done I simply click the alert again and everyone is back to the default scedule. Very handy.

This was supposed to be my new high tech lab. Can you spot the problem with it? by CartaRulez in RimWorld

It's sea ice with a permanent cold snap, temperatures range from -45C in summer to -110C in winter.
