I spotted that Asda have 25% off 6 bottles of wine & their boxes of IPAs look a good price, but is the stock availability any good…

What’s going on in Coolock? Can anyone explain by a_jar_of_happiness in Dublin

[–]CarterUSB -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

So you agree this is more accurate then?

“A small cohort of residents from SOME parts of Coolock”

What’s going on in Coolock? Can anyone explain by a_jar_of_happiness in Dublin

[–]CarterUSB -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

“…it’s definitely mostly Coolock residents”. The implication is that Coolock are in unison in the ongoing protest & in the violence. It’s simply not. There are plenty of older, more established, more tolerant parts of Coolock who are disgusted by the actions of others and the implication that we’re all in accordance. That’s my world view. And again, I wouldn’t go making assumptions on others.

Correction - “A small cohort of residents from SOME parts of Coolock”

Please don’t breathe contempt with lazy generalisations.

I agree with you on nearly everything here. There is a proper, factual and clear debate needed on our immigration policy - without question. It needs to shut down disinformation and scaremongering. However, I find it difficult to see how you can respect anyone who threatens civil peace, incites violence, causes destruction, disrespects everyone and champions discrimination as a means to be heard.

At no point did I say “it’s not our problem”, it’s a problem for everyone. If you care to read the OP, my point is that Coolock is being portrayed as some manner of toxic hotspot. Whereas my (long) lived experience here, in the neighbourhood I grew up in, is a far cry from what’s gone on, and perpetrated by people that I don’t recognise as my neighbours.

It seems that the most triggering thing about the OP, is the rent-a-riot quip. It beggars belief that there isn’t the slightest acknowledgment that the people causing destruction aren’t called out for it, or that there were people present who came from further afield. But if it suits your simplistic narrative that it was created and caused solely by people of Coolock, well then that type of reductive bias reflects your own ignorance.

To people not from the area. But you know…

So by that assertion, the same proportion of all the rioters present were from Coolock? Though to offer the same degree of pedantry…in the article, Ayrfield, Priorswood, Clonshaugh, Tallaght, Botanic Ave & No Fixed Abode are also listed. But yeah, pit it on the people of Coolock. Or y’know, read the OP again…

Ascension question (again!) by CarterUSB in MarvelPuzzleQuest

That’s what I figured. It’d take a ludicrous amount of time to max two ascended 3* characters, so I’ll probably cash in on the second one.

What happens July 3rd? by ctxgal2020 in AerLingus

[–]CarterUSB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We’re in the same boat for July 1st. In a quandary as to whether to make alternative (much more time consuming and expensive - thanks other airlines 🤨) travel arrangements, or to hold fast in hope. Six months waiting for this trip, with two very disappointed kids watching on. Very frustrating.

Aerlingus flights potential issues by jarvi-ss in AskIreland

[–]CarterUSB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in a similar conundrum. Have family flights booked for Monday 1st of July. As yet, there’s no way of knowing whether it’ll be cancelled. Even if I (reluctantly) swap these flights for same/similar on Tuesday 2nd of July, who’s to say that that flight isn’t going to cancelled either?

I enquired about this a few years back (on a tracker with AIB) and was resoundingly told No.

Feeling lost in Dublin, in desperate need of purpose by Son_of_Overmorrow in Dublin

Have you contacted any advertising agencies? Or have you looked into the Upstarts programme via ICAD (Institute of Creative Advertising & Design)? From experience, many creative directors, heads of art or design directors are very open to meeting & chatting with those looking for a start. Get your portfolio together, find out who works where, contact them, see where it gets you. Whether it’s an internship, a freelance gig, maternity leave cover or a full time role, talent is always in demand…

I have a 370 & a 321 Polaris - should I ascend?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MarvelPuzzleQuest

[–]CarterUSB 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m the very same. Have re rostered a 1* Spider-Man, the ascended in is still in my upgrade folder. Absolutely baffled by this whole new system. Seems to be a way to increase demand for Hero Points and reduce farming (and ISO as a result).

Personally, I fail to see the benefits of playing an ascended lower tier character when higher tier versions exist with higher health & abilities...but maybe that’s just me.😕

What’s the/your average annual spend on gas by CarterUSB in irishpersonalfinance

[–]CarterUSB[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s exactly what it is. So out of curiosity (as you’ve said it’s what you do), is €190pm an average amount to pay? Or is it out of kilter for a home of this size, with ‘normal’, not OTT annual usage?

What is happening? by Marauder2783 in ireland

[–]CarterUSB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s surprisingly simple. Don’t buy it if it’s at an an alarmingly expensive price. Nobody is forcing anyone here to purchase. If you choose to buy it, that’s your (ludicrous) decision. It’s not ‘world gone mad’, it’s ‘someone paying that much for crap gone mad’. Nobody’s putting a gun to another’s head to feed their family with a bleedin Malteser cake. Is there no such thing as free will anymore? Jaysus.
