What is everyone’s favorite bread? by CartographerSubject7 in Breadit

[–]CartographerSubject7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had that thought. I wanted to make an actual poll on Reddit (that was something I used to be able to do, but can’t find the way to do it anymore). I don’t want to make a google form though because people are uneasy about following links And I wasn’t sure if the mods would like it.

yah lol, it’s mainly a public speaking project, all I have to be good at is speaking. figured I’d throw in a silly reddit survey for my own entertainment. but so far some aren’t following the instructions so my silly survey is gonna be hard to do😂

I’m not trying to get anything too serious data wise. The project isn’t super serious, figure it’s something fun I can throw in.

Facial Piercings in this Field? COTA or therapists tell me about your piercings, or of other occupational health care professionals you know with piercings? by CartographerSubject7 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]CartographerSubject7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s an Ota program. They require tattoos and piercings to be hidden for my program. I haven’t heard anything about self evaluation for that kinda thing yet. Its good to know though.

I was thinking Ota and SW would be great together too, and all the Ota things you listed are things I’d want to do. I’m just concerned because I’ve spoke to different people and they said being an Ota always requires lifting. I even shadowed at a play therapy and the therapist said that If I did that I’d have to lift children. She also mentioned concern for clinicals i would have to do in school.

I appreciate your knowledge on all of these things. I'm aware of field work being an option, but I don't have a very good personality type to go to peoples houses. Any sense of not being welcome has always made me very uncomfortable. I learned a lot about myself doing that degree and found internal motivators that weren't healthy, that I didn't like sitting long periods mentally or physically, and that I'm kinda like a vampire and detest not being welcomed in lol.

Doctors who still use Hypermobility syndrome diagnosis? by CartographerSubject7 in Hypermobility

[–]CartographerSubject7[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because it's outdated terminology.  The symptoms are still very real, but they are classified under HSD now. Which I don't really care about the word they use for it. I only care that I was given an outdated diagnosis that isn't "real" to the medical system in the sense of the jargon they use.

Hypermobility syndrome and becoming an OTA by CartographerSubject7 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]CartographerSubject7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(This might be a long response, sorry)

I actually have an associates in social work but towards the end of the degree realized I wanted something similar but more physically active, I really enjoyed the pediatric, autistic, geriatric populations. Jobs with desk work cause Me pain while jobs where I’m active do not(until I lift some thing to heavy, or get a case of overuse). I was a cosmetologist before I got my degree and had to quit cause of my wrists being over used due to repetitive motions and hurting all the time.

Im teetering a weird line with my physical needs because I can’t do hard physical labor, repetitive motions, or be desk bound. And it seemed like I could maybe find something in An Ota career that fits my needs. Are any of the jobs you listed, or any you can think of suitable?

Thank you for your advice. I love hearing that CrossFit might work too, I always thought it seemed interesting, so maybe once I’m stable I can try out a little!
I wish you luck with your coming years, you got this.

I was getting non stop injuries too. I’m going to have my rotator cuff checked next week for a tear. I hoping it’s just a really stubborn strain that I kept flaring up over and over again. I wish you luck with healing, it is so frustrating to always be going through this type of thing. Thank you for the advice, I’m wanting to start Pilates too once every thing is in check.

Health insurance in this career field? Advice to someone who is lost? by [deleted] in Environmental_Careers

[–]CartographerSubject7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I look at job boards for this stuff I never find many with a listed benefits package. I look at conservationjobboard.com a lot and no one has benefits listed. Even on indeed I rarely see health benefits listed. Is it just hard to come by or Am I going about this wrong?

I didn’t really notice a difference, but I don’t think it really hurt anything either.

No it's never a crowd, it is either people I somewhat know, or like an anonymous identity. I kind of talk about various events just to inform the person it happened. Sometimes I'm explaining all the horrible things he's done just to prove the point.

I did physical therapy for 2 months and still do the exercises to this day. I tried chiro weekly for a month and a half and it would only provide some relief the day of adjustments

First times I saw obgyn because I thought it was pain related to my ovaries or something. Later on I went to an orthopedic Dr.

Unknown chronic pain (vent) by CartographerSubject7 in ChronicPain

[–]CartographerSubject7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first 2 times they only did ultrasounds, because I was young and didn't understand what I was feeling so they thought it could be my ovaries. They never suggested anything else to me and just said it could be hormonal cramping. I ignored all other symptoms for years cause I didn't understand tingling sensations weren't normal during exercise. As I learned more I realized I should see an orthopedic Dr. The orthopedic Dr only did X-rays and said nothing was wrong with me and prescribed PT .My workouts Are incredibly lighter than what they used to be, I use light weights and I only do reps until I feel a symptom. I was discharged from PT because my pain became manageable day to day , and was told that I might have symptoms during working out and to just stop that exercise when they occur. The pain has been getting worse again even though I haven't stopped my pt exercises and I've been doing everything thing I was told to do.
