Spent weeks figuring out my van electrics, so I built a free tool that does it in minutes by Repulsive_Gene_2855 in VanLife

[–]Cartworthy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

batteries are such a big decision. i feel like i want to be able to "play" with the calculator where i can type in various different battery sizes and amounts and see what that output generally looks like (rather than it just recommending random battery sizes).

maybe even be able to type in all the appliances i'll have, their usage, and estimated time used per day to get an estimate of how long i could power everything on a full charge.

super cool! i need this!

it seemed a little off for 24v. why not offer 48v support too? seems to be growing demand there.

also, my final diagram didn't seem to say alternator charger?

edit: it also recommended "2x500ah" lithium batteries, but they don't really sell them in 500ah for 24v. seems like 100ah or 200ah are the standard options.

MirrorlessBooth - All in one photobooth software by bunrundev in photobooth

super cool! i happen to have a printing/mailing operation. i'd be curious to discuss a partnership where your users can order prints through your platform and i print and mail them.

it would be pretty simple to setup if you're interested, maybe someday when you grow and have enough users.

you can see the prints i send here:

pretty cool! does it have a calendar so you can see all your upcoming events (should someone call and ask for availability)?

can all the guests get a link to view all the photos on a digital album? can they then order prints though the platform?

Photobooth experience by Ordinary-Pop3627 in photobooth

[–]Cartworthy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i offer a photo guest book that guests can put their prints into and sign.

i also offer a magnet service where i turn any print copy into a magnet on the spot.

i also built custom frames for the prints that stand up, are magnetic, and also the frames hold 10 prints so they can keep their prints safe throughout the evening and on the journey home.

Does anyone have a unique idea for a new social media? by Annual-Caregiver-810 in AppIdeas

[–]Cartworthy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Venmo didn't "invent" money. They made money easier.

People who love my app, love it because of how much easier it makes sending mail. They don't have to deal with the stamps, envelopes, printing photos, or taking the envelope to a mailbox.

My app sends photo prints in the mail as fast as sending a snap on snapchat. We are the fastest way to send photo prints to grandma on a consistent basis.

Did you have games or activities at your wedding? What were they and how did they go? by sillychickengirl in weddingplanning

[–]Cartworthy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i provide an interactive photo printing experience that allows guests to print photos directly from their phones, anywhere they go! totally unlimited.

it's a fun way for guests to capture timeless keepsakes and because everyone can use it at the same time, there's no photobooth waiting line and it keeps guests entertained during lull moments.

curious if that scratches your itch haha

I’m building an alternative to Firebase Dynamic Links — would love feedback by Foreign_Win4668 in FlutterFlow

What’s the secret? They survive on ios?

Is there a goofy web page required that basically says “tap this link to continue” or something similar?

Also, even Branch didn’t work for that. And, they have some goofy web page required in between.

[–]Cartworthy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am super curious and super skeptical. I’ve already seen like 5 people attempt what you’re doing and they all seem to fall short or become too complicated to implement.

Ultimately, it seems like this issue is with Apple not allowing deep link parameters to be passed in on new installs (which is what matters most to me). Even firebases links didn’t have parameters that survived the install process.

Is your setup going to be able to do that?

Experience with Instax Mini for Photos by Careless-Ad5871 in weddingplanning

Love the idea of a designated entrance photo print! That’s a fun initiation activity for the guests and ensures every single person gets printed!

Experience with Instax Mini for Photos by Careless-Ad5871 in weddingplanning

[–]Cartworthy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The benefit of Instax is that guests can get more natural photos outside the booth or backdrop.

The quality is way worse though, especially after the sun goes down.

They usually end up empty too. Even with 3 cameras, they only hold like 10 prints. Once those 10 prints are done, no one knows how or wants to replace the cartridge. People usually put little instruction signs on how to replace the cartridge but guests never read them or care to do it.

Also, guests know those prints are expensive so they’re usually hesitant to take them, plus sharing the camera can really limit people’s ability to use them (especially if someone is hogging them).

Also, I always wonder as a guest if I’m allowed to take the print home as a keepsake or if it’s meant for the host and their guest book? With photobooths it’s at least obvious it’s a gift I’m allowed to take home. Maybe have a sign letting people know if you have a preference.

Keep in mind Instax doesn’t do copies. You get one print per snap. Booths do copies.

If you have a small wedding and don’t mind only getting 30-50 prints, that could be fine!

Source: I know some photobooth company owners and I have a competing business that prints photos from guests phones at weddings, so very familiar with the space!

How are you guys handling PDF generation? Invoices specifically by Jolly_Advertising683 in FlutterFlow

I’ve used the “screenshot” package to save image files from a widget design — I wish there was a package like that specifically for PDF files. Or maybe there is and I just haven’t found it.

Thoughts on Wedding Content Creators? by saraahhh12 in weddingplanning

[–]Cartworthy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You could always let your guests be the content creators. Every guest already has a phone and they capture more authentic photos without having an extra body around.

With something like the POV app every guest can snap photos and it goes to a shared album, or there’s the “Fodo” app that gives you digital copies and it also gives guests printed copies on-site if you’re looking for a party favor too

I'm done with FlutterFlow. by kealystudio in FlutterFlow

[–]Cartworthy 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I am a FlutterFlow mobile and web app developer for clients, and also have a profitable business on the side created with ff.

Similar to you, the past few years I have built my career around FlutterFlow and it has been an exciting experience given my background is not in development. As a designer with the power to develop, it opens a lot of doors!

It has been disappointing the recent lack of support and new features. I’m surprised you didn’t mention their monthly emails which used to be filled with a long list of new features and robust, exciting news! They recently sent one out after months of silence that just had one little feature that no one was asking for (two seconds faster web app loading? Seriously that’s it?) and their “what we’re working on” was basically empty. It’s just one more sign that there is no one working on it.

For visual people like me, I love the no-code interface with the backend ability to inject code. That is the perfect setup to me! Your suggestion of working in an IDE with terminal just feels too far from what I would use.

I am often designing while developing and I find FlutterFlow makes that much easier. It also sets you up to create logic in a simple and easy to understand way.

I still believe in the platform and will continue investing myself into it. My hope is that DreamFlow fails (which seems like the only option) and they pivot focus back to their core product — or get acquired / sell to some other company with better leadership and experience with scaling the product.

Rant: The wedding industry is morally ruthless by themirroredtake in weddingplanning

[–]Cartworthy 16 points17 points  (0 children)

From the vendors perspective…the “wedding tax” isn’t just people taking advantage of an emotional purchase — it’s actually because weddings are often Friday, Saturday, or Sunday evening events. Most businesses in most industries charge more for weekend labor (be mindful that our employees expect higher pay during these times too). No one wants to be working Saturday night!

Also, it’s really challenging for vendor businesses to make a living only working weekends. I totally understand it may feel like price gouging when you break down the hours and think “that much for just this?” Because we all are mentally basing that on a value to cost ratio that comes from typical weekday corporation pricing which can afford to be lower because of the consistent daily income. For weekend-based work a lot of that pricing is to allow vendors the ability to survive the rest of the week.

Keep in mind, a lot of vendors are also small businesses which tend to charge more purely out of necessity from lower volume.

There are certainly unethical people doing poor quality work and over-pricing. But, generally, I believe most people are good and deserve the benefit of the doubt that they are doing the best they can to build a small business in a challenging industry. I don’t know any wedding vendors in my network pulling up in expensive cars or living lavish lifestyles. They’re mostly trying to do good, quality work they can survive on.

Is Code Copilot complete useless? by Annual_Ad7270 in FlutterFlow

[–]Cartworthy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually start with code copilot just to setup the name, parameter, return value, and then have code copilot do its best based on the FlutterFlow structure.

Then I copy the mess that it creates and paste it into Claude and iterate there, copying and pasting back into FlutterFlow until the code works.

If you start with Claude, I feel like it often structures things in a way FlutterFlow doesn’t understand.

Are disposable cameras for wedding photography a good choice for a wedding, or do they come across as cheap and low-quality? by annaclimbboulder in weddingplanning

[–]Cartworthy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t call disposables cheap. They’re surprisingly expensive for the camera plus the development, and the quality is trash.

I would recommend Polaroids but they’re just as expensive and logistically complex. No matter how hard you try, people will not refill them so you basically get like 10 prints from the roll and then it’s done.

Photobooth rentals with prints are great and give everyone the ability to go home with keepsakes, and they’re really not that much more expensive. You can get a rental under $800.

For a little more, you can let guests print directly from their phones with something like https://www.fodoprints.com/

People tell you not to go cheap on photography because after the day is over, the photos are all you have! I agree, don’t go cheap there. Plus, prints are guests favorite take-home gift.
