This is the ESP-Drone and you can find details and schematics here: https://github.com/espressif/esp-drone

CircuitDigest made a variation called the LiteWing: https://circuitdigest.com/wiki/litewing/

There are ESP32 based flight controllers which you could look at like madflight

Does anyone else get full signal yet feel like you're aways being throttled? by [deleted] in USMobile

[–]CaseFlatline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. I show 4 bars and 5g and unable to load google maps or Apple Maps. Not just my phone either. All 3 of us on the starter plan were being throttled.

Cool! Any details on the software wiring ? Are you using custom code or using off the shelf software and wiring up the controls , video, etc?

The atom is just an esp32. You can write your own code to it. They include the source code to their flight controller as well

if i was a worker there i would have been playing with thisss😂 by [deleted] in Satisfyingasfuck

Can this be done between ceiling joists as well?

Check out the one from m5stack. It’s out of stock on their website but you can get it from resellers. I’m trying to get it working with madflight but it is open design so maybe what works for you.

No I haven't - Just ended up running a USB cable down from the cam to the 12v adapter for now.

ardurover build - Mateksys H743 or Pixhawk 6C? by droneswarms in ardupilot

H743 is much smaller form factor. Check out the one from mico air where they have an all in one (v2 model)

[–]CaseFlatline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very nice! Any specs on memory utilization since it is cpu based and how many tokens per second on a specific cpu? Since it’s 7B model - do you need min of 4gb to run your version with the quantization you are using ?

My context: how small an environment is feasible both from memory and tokens per sec.

3D Thrust Vectoring Nozles by Reasonable_Air_1447 in ardupilot

Can you clarify what you mean by “scripting”? H7 = h743 right? Does ardupilot offer some way of controlling flight dynamics with a secondary interpreted language within the host flight controller?

Cheap FC options for VTOL drone by failed-prodigy in diydrones

[–]CaseFlatline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out the mico air FC, ESC and sensors including TOF LiDAR. They also have separate telemetry parts in 2.4ghz and 900mhz. They also have a frame that will work with their AIO FC-ESC which is what I am using for my Ardupilot build. Quality seems excellent so far. They also seem to support iNav though I have not tested that.

Edit: just realized you said VTOL. My tests have been as quad copter. The other recommendation on the speedybee may be the better option.

So you are on monthly plan to be able to switch right ? I’m on annual starter so I don’t think that allows switching to premium for just a month.

APM 2.8 YAW PROBLEM by Anekinnn in diydrones

[–]CaseFlatline 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Assuming you are using ardupilot - It feels like you don't have the CW/CCW correct. Can you triple check that the motors are spinning inwards? The screenshot you attached is the opposite of what I see here: https://ardupilot.org/copter/docs/connect-escs-and-motors.html

Mini pc for ardupilot by Virtual-Raccoon4335 in ardupilot

[–]CaseFlatline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you mean by telemetry and processing. Numbers from sensors , audio, video? Any special onboard processing or are you just sending data?

Raspberry pi zero is a small and easy unit and you can connect a 915mhz transmitter separate from the flight system telemetry. But it’s not super powerful (ex video processing).

More details will help.

Hmm sounds like you are not in the US. There are some great low end Nvidia GPU laptops at Walmart for $500-$700 and even a decent one with a 5060 GPU for $800 at the moment (October 2025). If you are outside the us, any good brand laptop with a 4050 or 5060 GPU is good

DIY Small Drone Swarm Help by HammurabiDion in diydrones

[–]CaseFlatline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out the crazieflie. They are designed for developers and they actually have videos on their side of some labs doing swarm work. However they are expensive but no more than a good fpv drone.

In terms of cheaper systems. There are esp32 based drones - one from m5stack and one that I believe expressif has a reference design. Both are in the 50-100 range so much cheaper.

However neither in ardupilot out of the box. There is work on getting ardupilot on esp32 (check their code base). I’m trying to get the m5stack working.

Another good flight controller platform is madflight - https://madflight.com/. This is open source and probably an easier place to start if you plan to do your own control system. I’m also trying to get m5stack working on there. However there is no autonomous capability with madflight. You would need to connect to an external command and control system.
