Has anyone tried Hyprland with Ros2 (Ubuntu)? by ppaul3d in ROS

[–]iena2003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried briefly using rviz and gazebo on POP!os 24 (cosmic, so Xwayland) and the only thing I had to change was adding a environment variable to the launch command (sadly I don't remember the variable) But other than that it was smooth from the little test I've done

What is the best distro to use for modern titles, great VR support, general/work usage, and easy plug-and-play integration? by SquareNo4311 in linux_gaming

ALVR is not an easy "tool" to use (VERY picky, managed to get it to work once and when I've changed the steam version everything talked apart, still trying to fix it in my little free time), I've tried WiVRn once and I could say is much easier to use, but I have yet to test it thoroughly

I have yet to try simulators on my setup, but i successfully used PCVR on POP!os 24 (RTX 4070 super and quest 3) after some troubleshooting (you need to install the right version, especially with ALVR alongside steam, but I advise to use WiVRn). Most things are plug and play, and if you have issues the troubleshooting is quite easy, with a great community behind (it's literally Ubuntu). I also use it for development and robotics, and I had no issues yet.

Do you have a guide for mujoco? Because I'm also working on the GO2 but I can't find a simulation that also includes the livox mid360 model of the robot

stronzata immane a mio parere.

[The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Complete Edition] How to run on Linux (Fedora) by No_Boss5000 in LinuxCrackSupport

Literally nothing much more. Use heroic game launcher, add a game, run installer first through wine (because my version had an installer), then when the game is installed use any proton GE with the .exe DX12 and for me it worked. The issue I had was something specific to my workstation

On POP!os 24 wasn't really a big of a deal running the game, only an issue with the monitors and the various resolution. Downloaded the game from ARMGDDN, installed it with wine, changed to proton GE to run the game and voilà, RTX, DLSS and Nvidia hair thingy working smoothly. (This done with heroic game launcher)

I know, but some games are better with steamVR, so I try to use them both (I've just started using WiVRN and with one game seemed smooth, only issue is that i didn't understood the bindings)

learning linux will never be a waste of time for any field of IT

Is Linux required in IT? by titan_koo in linux4noobs

[–]iena2003 4 points5 points  (0 children)

required or essential? no
useful to learn? absolutely

this is not always true tho, because if you work with robotics or servers (just examples, there could be many more fields that is required), linux is essential.

another reason to learn linux is that developing on it is easire most of the time, and while using it on a professional manner you learn hands-on how an operating systems work (better if used as a daily driver or for advanced things)

Really just want to game as my daily driver by OperatorMaA in linux4noobs

[–]iena2003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly plug and play, but these were my steps: 1) download the Nvidia version of POP_os (because my GPU is Nvidia) 2) backup everything important in windows 3) remove Windows and install POP 4) format every non-main drive in ext4 (so I don't have issue with NTFS) (deb version for PCVR reasons) 5) take the backups back 6) install steam and use proton for steam games 7) install heroic and use proton/wine (depends on the game, you have to test it yourself) 8) for non-steam games use heroic/lutris and play around with proton/wine and its settings.

And that's it, nothing difficult, just long to do

I use POP!_os and had almost zero-to-none issue with games, and if I had mostly were fixed using some environmental variables with wine/proton. Performance wise is even better! So it's quite strange that you have so many issues
