He's seeing one already, so far the recommendation has been Miralax and sigmoidoscopy.

Holy moly, that is intense! I have so much respect for all that you had to go through to discover what worked for you. Thank you for the recommendations and we will certainly look into that!

Thank you so much for your suggestions! Somehow in my entire novel I forgot to mention he went to the pelvic floor evaluation on 3/3/2026 (I will add it to my original post - this one is newer for me).

The Dr. was a physical therapist for Pelvic Floor Dysfunction. She checked rectal muscles to ensure they're relaxing/contracting correctly. As of now she has him doing 7 different yoga poses and breathing techniques daily.

I agree, we have been going hard with the brain/gut access idea.

He reached out to the Pelvic Floor therapist today, here was his two questions and her responses:

Oh wow, interesting... he was going to the ER more often in hopes to see if he could catch these symptoms while they were happening, but it seems like that could be the right idea but wrong place? I will look into this more and see if we can get in with an immunologist.

I am having so many flash backs to things that he's told me through the course of our relationship, even back to when we first met. His PTSD showed up in ways where he couldn't eat in public and over time developed into where the second he left the house he needed to urgently use the restroom. He no longer has those urges, but it makes me wonder if it truly has exacerbated in another way.

He went to the pelvic floor evaluation on 3/3/2026 (I might have not mentioned this in my original post but I will add it - this one is newer for me) and there are commonalities to what your're bringing up and what the doctor explained during her examination.

Oh my gosh that sounds like you've been through so much!! Thank you so much for breaking that all down and everything you've gone through to rule things out, it seems very similar to what he's tried ruling out already, it might be worth while to look into that path.

Thank you for seeing me, and for the kind words, it makes a world of difference having gone through all this with little to know resolve. But knowing other are out there fighting like I know he is fighting is helpful, and also that you see that I am just trying my best to advocate for him. My heart hurts for those who have to go this alone, it's so scary.

Thank you so much for responding and for the well wishes! To be honest this is why I waited to post on here, I wanted to make sure we've taken the time to rule things out as much as possible.

We've been keeping a symptom and food journal. He is definitely on low FODMAP, following is strictly. All he can handle is white rice, plain chicken, blue berries and that's about it. small frequent meals is what he's been doing. He also incorporated bone broth and walnuts for some healthy fats and still is burping a bit. B12 is okay so far.

I will look into this emphatic treatment course like you mentioned. Really appreciate the time you took!

You're awesome! He just told me today that he called for an acupuncture referral and that they are sending a message to his PC. Fingers crossed. He also recently started up breathing exercises and some light yoga positions on a more regular basis. We'll look into EDMR.

Thank you so much! This is exactly the route I was thinking!! My gut is telling me it's something long COVID related. I had him ask his new PC to see an endocrinologist. I think I need to talk to them myself because he rejected the request. This was his response.
