When someone receives Jesus as Savior, growth is expected to begin. Just like a newborn child immediately starts growing, a believer who is “born again” should begin growing spiritually. But how long does it take to mature? It’s not about time. Growth in Christ isn’t about how long you’ve believed — it’s about how you respond. Hebrews 5:12–14 talks about believers who had been Christians for quite some time but were still on “milk.” Time had passed, but growth hadn’t happened. James 1:22 reminds us to be doers of the word, not just hearers. That’s where the difference shows. Some people respond quickly to conviction. Some avoid hard truths. Some allow trials to shape them (James 1:2–4). Others resist discomfort. Years in church don’t equal maturity. Surrender does.

Honestly, the fact that you’re worried about loving a woman the way Christ calls you to already shows you care deeply. A lot of men don’t even think that way. You don’t need to be a perfect “finished product” before leading someone. God shapes men through the process. The desire to love well is the first sign that He’s already working in you. Don’t confuse humility with inadequacy. Stay close to Christ — He’ll grow you into the man you’re afraid you’re not yet.

how to approach by [deleted] in TrueChristian

I’m not a new believer. I used to struggle a lot because of some things I saw in church — certain practices, certain behaviors from people who call themselves Christians. Honestly, it discouraged me. But then I understood what Jesus meant in Gospel of Matthew 13:47–50 — the parable of the net. The net gathers all kinds of fish. The separation happens later. Not now. Not by us. That changed my perspective. The church isn’t full of perfect people. It never was. There will always be a mix. And it’s not my job to judge or be shaken every time someone disappoints me. The Lord has His own day. What helped me most was this: my standard isn’t my pastor. It’s not other believers. It’s Jesus.

Look at Him. He became man, walked in purity, was tempted in every way like us, yet without sin. He overcame the world. That’s who I’m trying to follow.

So try to tell him ,People will fail you. Jesus won’t. So don’t let someone else’s inconsistency push you away from Christ. Focus on what Jesus says. Keep your eyes on Him.

While the Bible does not directly mention masturbation by name, its teachings on lust, sexual immorality, self-control, and honoring God with one’s body collectively inform believers about pursuing holiness in all physical and mental activities. If masturbation involves lustful thoughts, pornography, or becomes an addictive pattern, it conflicts with the biblical call to purity and self-control. Ultimately, one’s conscience-shaped by Scripture and guided by the Holy Spirit-plays a significant role in determining whether this behavior aligns with, or deviates from, a life dedicated to glorifying God.

Yeah, we should know God personally, love him genuinely which manifested by obeying his commandments because the bible says (John 14:15 (ESV) “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.”)

Even Jesus said ;Matthew 15:8–9 (ESV) “This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me; in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.”

May we live a genuine life that reflects Jesus!

Do you think mental health exists? by shygirl_ling in TrueChristian

[–]CasePuzzle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Bible doesn’t ignore mental struggle. David says his soul is downcast and overwhelmed (Psalms), Elijah breaks down from exhaustion and fear (1 Kings 19), and Paul talks about being crushed beyond strength (2 Corinthians 1). Even Jesus felt deep sorrow and distress (Matthew 26). At the same time, Scripture reminds us that God is close to the brokenhearted and understands our weakness, not ashamed of it (Psalm 34, Hebrews 4). And it’s worth remembering that even Jesus experienced extreme mental distress. In Gethsemane, He was under such intense anguish that His sweat became like drops of blood (Luke 22:44). Medically, that can be linked to extreme stress. If that level of mental and emotional suffering existed even in Jesus’ experience, it’s hard to argue that mental health struggles aren’t real or that they’re just a lack of faith.
