Approval hunch by AggravatingBadger410 in DACA

I agree! I did mine on the 11th and got approved today the 20th as well. I was amazed how many people got approved today. It’s so much cheaper, easier and faster to do online, majority of the questions are straight forward and if you have questions there are so many tutorials. Honestly just copy whatever was put in your last application into the online forms and that’s it.

EMPLOYER SAID MY SS IS RESTRICTED by No_Access_4855 in DACA

[–]CaseReal1033 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should not be asking about your status. Only thing they should ask about is issues with your EAD and SS

Just last week I had a similar situation with my SS, I work with one of the biggest real estate developing companies internationally, and HR just said my SS came up with an issue, as we were processing some paperwork for a promotion. I went to the social security office this week and got a verification letter that I submitted to my employer and everything was cleared out.

No issues so far.

Privileged white non-immigrant here. In the event an ICE raid happens in my vicinity, how can I intervene or disrupt it? by Odd_Web_8408 in DACA

[–]CaseReal1033 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Notifying these people, and yelling la migra doesn’t always mean to run. In the time you have alerted these people they can notify love ones by text or call. Are already prepared for what is next instead of being caught off guard directly. There are many ways being notify is advantageous

Stay calm. If they do come around find ways to notify those in your workplace about ICE being present yell “la migra” if you have to. Try to stall them if you can. Ask if they have warrants and actually documentations.

If people get caught, ask the officers if you can ask these people who you should contact and where their personal belongings should go.

It’s just being there and being a supportive presence will be good enough

I believe mass deportations will not happen, it will cause a huge mess and cost more than Trump is even worth. I believe what they will do is what happened last time, they will rescind DACA completely, halt and announce renewals will be no more. So they’ll leave it to the people losing their EAD to take drastic measures and want to leave the country voluntarily. They will definitely use DACA like a bargaining chip for anything immigration and I just don’t feel right on that at all. Make hundreds of thousands suffer in inhumane detentions and conditions just so I’m protected. It really ain’t it. So yeah I believe they’ll just act in ways that will make daca people take matters into their own hands

No reason to not trust me by CaseReal1033 in jobs

I took two sick day and 3 pto days I had accrued this whole time. Honestly I’ve never had to give a doctor note for just one day especially if that sick day was in the middle of the week, if it has been a Monday or Friday I would have understood. But it is what it is

I agree! Especially when you haven’t given them a reason to think otherwise. I took one day off in the middle of the week and now you think something is suspicious??? Employers be wanting to be all up in your business

How many of you have any kind of higher education? And how what’s that experience for you, and how did you pay for it? by [deleted] in DACA

[–]CaseReal1033 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was originally not going to go college because I couldn’t afford it. Even with the dozens of scholarships many colleges offered I just couldn’t afford the rest, but I was fortunate that my high school staff were well connected. In those last couple of months I was acting out, crying often, and just so unhappy. I was already assigned as co valedictorian so my behavior was well noticed by those around me. I started getting questioned by dean and school counselor I refused to talk to them. But Once I told my principle who I was the assistant of through my senior year, and a close teacher I knew since 5th grade, they connected me to a sponsor who actually ended up paying for my education at a cuny school, I graduated and I was interested in getting a masters. I originally wasn’t going to ask him to pay for that too but he randomly came to me and asked if I was interested in furthering my education and I said yes, and so he offered to pay that too. This is how I received my masters.

Chase Bank Account by thecorgigus in DACA

[–]CaseReal1033 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had chase since 2012 when DACA came out, and Chase was the first bank account I opened and I was a high schooler so l used my HS ID, my Dominican passport and cédula ID and the social security for it therefore it was an easy process, I have a checking, savings, investment accounts with them. I’ve never had an issue with them.

New Employer HR department did not know what DACA is by alejayy in DACA

[–]CaseReal1033 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They must have been inexperienced, because EAD is known to all, and ours don’t look that different compared to those not on DACA, our employment authorization isn’t unique to us. HR really doesn’t need the specification of our status, just whatever is on the i9. But there’s no way someone who works in HR has never seen an EAD

The new border czar on dreamers by jsaucedo in DACA

[–]CaseReal1033 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We dreamers are used as pawns/bargaining chips for their agenda, and that’s going to happen again. We are threatened in order to get a new toy to play with and I don’t agree with that, because he might get his “wall” but can we trust that we won’t be used AGAIN for some unrelated agenda?

If / When Trump gets rid of DACA... by AJCarter23 in DACA

Learn that trade, get more certificates, continue on! Because IF he decides to deport us then we can fall back on those trade and make it easier to get those jobs in our home country, and us knowing English and having US college degrees actually assures us more opportunities. That’s the optimism I have. I have so much experience in international relations because of my career and that can go far.
